What an amazing episode of flooding haven't seen anything like this since 1918 I read once that's right about when the San Francisco man struck a deal to by Yellowstone aGates by the ton. This was the case until the mid 20s if my memory serves. I've got to think with the immense disturbance from the flood some serious disturbances of the gravel bearing deposit with our beloved aGates. Will it be beneficial or maleficent in nature to the agate collecting. As for the flood it's a tragedy of course and I pray those affected may find peace once again. Just some thoughts back to work. I think you are going to see some stupidity along the river when it goes down.

I feel horrible about the devastation this is doing to quite a few human structures and how many human lives this is going to affect...
However...
I also can't stop thinking about how many NEW rocks are going to be turned over and moved down the river for future collection trips.

Jason yah nailed my sentiment dead on! The geo-nut in me loves this the humanitarian side of me aches in a hard way. In a weird way I can swallow tragedy at the hands of natural forces but when the tragedy is caused by direct human involvement I cannot stomach it. I keep telling myself that nature is as wonderful as she is horrible. And thus a neutral player lol it helps me sleep at night I guess. I also don't live in consistent natural disaster zones. Up here it's a quake now and again and waiting on big R to blow up. Johnny aGates

Johnny aGates I think you are going to see a rush to be the first to get on the sand bars and get the good stuff. I think you are going to see people do stupid stuff like fool around with the quicksand on the east side of the river in Glendive.
