rhyolite not jasper. Though to be fair there is a lot of rhyolite sold as jasper

Rhyolites vary with the amount of silica in them some polish well some mat only and some with soft spots. I am speaking of cabochons here. Tumbling is more problematic since there all the other stones. All I can say try it with stones about the same hardness.
