Hi gang, A very good friend of mine (Darren Jones) from Australia sent me some smokey quartz and golden Labradorite rough a while back. I had some of it faceted and here are the poor photo's: The photo's do not do them justice at all!! Tom

Beautiful stones. Maybe put them on something of contrasting color?

Doc I believe charges $9 a facet. But his price could have gone up. You may want to check with him

Those are beautiful, amazing what faceting does to how a stone looks. Tom, where did you have them done and how did you find them? I'm not even sure how faceting is done, do they have to grind away each of those angles or what? However it's done, it's amazing.

lol Randy Doc is in the US, so I'm sure he charges US $
It can get pretty expensive. $9 per facet, and usually there's about 30+ facets per stone. Depends on the design you want.... and you loose quite a bit of your stone too.

Toad,, That's a good idea.
I did it in a hurry so all I used was a paper towel.
brandy, A friend did them for 1/2 of the material I sent him.If I had to pay for them they would never get faceted!!
steve, Thanks,,,,, I emailed the guy who did the work asking his permission to post his name but he hasn't answered me yet.
jody, When I hear from my buddy I'll let you know the info.
Cher,,,
Thanks,,,,,,,,,,
I got the rough from Darren Jones from Australia. If you can believe he's got jars full of it all over his house!!
Mr. Sands
Thanks John!! When you gunna start faceting??
Pebbles,,,,,
Thanks,,,,, Yes I will set all of the stones in 14 ct gold.
The pear cut will be a pendant with the 2 smaller stones being ear rings. The smokeys will be set seperately into rings with accents on the sides.
Robert,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thanks,,,, Yes I will make jewelry out of them (read above post)
Thanks all for the kind words,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Kim,
Yes I set my own stones.I don't mind doing a piece in silver but the 14 ct gold gives me the tremmers!
