Here are a few pics of petwood that I've been tumbling for a while now, and are finally out of the polishing stage. You can see how the one in bottom middle got kind of beat up by not using pellets. Condor

Beautiful shine, you really nailed it. I'd toss that busted up one and the one next to it back into coarse and run them again. They've got great color and are big enough for another round.

Fantastic shine condor. Are those all woods local to Texas?

Jeff, I had them in 60/90 for three weeks, then 1 week in 120/220, 1 week in 400F. Then I placed them in the vibrating tumbler for about five days. I used a polish called Tumbleshine. Sabre52, I don't know where these woods are from. I bought the rough in Tucson, Arizona.

Condor-
Tumbleshine huh? Looks like pretty nice stuff. Did you pick that up at the AZ rock show as well?
I love petrified wood as much as anyone and it's good to see another batch on the board.

Condor, That wood looks great! Love those dark, rich colors. Did you have to add any after the 1st coarse, to fill the barrel up again? Last time I tried to do the wood, it seemed like the 60/90 coarse really broke it down quite a bit. Thanks for shaing. Steve

Nice mix of colours and patterns. I've never heard of tumbleshine, but it sure does the trick for you. Pellets do help with petwood, but some of it has so many natural fractures that you can't do much about it.

Thank you for the compliments folks. Gaetzter, I did get the tumbleshine at the Tucson show, but I'd also met them at the Deming, New Mexico show once before. Steve, I never did add more to the barrell even though they did wear out some. Just added more 60/90. Here is the website for the Tumbleshine. I have no idea what it's made out of. They seem to have another polish called M-5. I might buy some of that, and give it a try. www.johnsonlapidary.comCondor
