These pictures are from material acquired years ago and supposedly from Needle Peak on the Woodward Ranch. These pieces are 2-5 inch halves that show chalcedony and possibly calcite. These pieces will polish up using the wet diamond polishing pads. This softer material reacts with vinegar and the other areas are non-reactive. Any ideas what these pieces are?

You said Needle Peak on Woodward Ranch. There was always some confusion whether or not Woodward owned any area around Needle Peak. I have heard lot's of opinions saying both "yes he did" and "no he did not" and was never sure what to believe. I know that when Mischer bought all the land around Lajitas for his resort, he looked into buying property that included Needle Peak. Decided against it as the property rights were not clear on who owned what.

Did find agate around Needle Peak that had Calcite in the pieces that look similar to the pics you posted. Of course a percentage of the Bouquet Agate south of Marfa also had Calcite inclusions.

HanksRocks, who knows exactly where this material was collected. I suspect it was collected and sold to the rock shops in the area. I just would like to know what is is and where it was found and think some older collectors might know. I also suspect it is fluorescent and more useful as this type of specimen.
