Super shiny! I like the first one you highlighted as well. What steps are you taking in your process, or better yet what are you using as you're polish?
That's a great batch for your first finish.

That's a great batch for your first finish. I really watched as many YouTube tutorials as I could before I started, particularly Michigan rocks. I ran 60/90 silicon carbide for stage 1 for a week at a time and was (as suggested) very selective of what moved on. stage 2 was 220 silicon carbide for a week, following the same process of hyper vigilant inspection. stage 3 was 500 silicon carbide for 10 days, mixed ceramic media for cushioning polish was the hard part for me. I put a batch through and they came out smooth but with more of a matte finish. I asked around here and it was suggested that I had some subpar polish. I got it from mjr tumblers and it was indeed subpar at 1200 aluminum oxide. Was directed to the rock shed where I bought 3 pounds of their aluminum oxide polish which clocks in at 8000 grit. Ran my previously matte finish batch again for 16 days in the new polish with a quick 1 hour borax burnish and these are the results. I should mention I kept using increasingly smaller barrels for each step due to lack of material. 1st stage 30lb mjr rotary tumbler 2nd and 3rd stage 3lb Chicago electric tumbler 4th stage 1lb Dan and darci rotary tumbler. I’ve got LOTS more coming down the pipes that I can’t wait to share.

That’s your first batch? You did an awesome job! First batch indeed. I would say I owe a good portion of its success to the fantastic tutelage I received from your videos, thanks Rob. I always enjoy the content.

Excellent job on your first tumble! You got a nice, killer shine on a lot of those stones.
