Sands, geez, I'm really struggling here with whether to respond to this post or not... I don't like the cards. I was hoping someone else would take issue with them so I wouldn't have to, but I only see positive comments so far, and the more positive comments I see, the more uncomfortable I become.
So I'm going to dis your cards... please take this as the constructive criticism that I intend it to be, and not something that is only negative.
If you are setting up a business, I think you need to project a professional image so that customers take you seriously. The "bite me twice" thing might be catchy, but it also comes across as very amateurish. Honestly, if I was in the area and was given a bus. card with "bitemetwice lapidary" on it, I wouldn't even bother to stop by the place.
"Sands of Time" is good, but I would follow it with the word lapidary, ie "Sands of Time Lapidary" -- the name sands of time presents a certain mystique, and the lapidary part lets people know the nature of your business.
The second thing I take issue with is the bottom of the card, where it says "featuring cabojohns". Only the 800 people on this RTH forum know what is a cabojohn, the rest of the world is clueless. So you need some description. I see that in your modified card you are suggesting adding "hand cut, shaped, and polished", but I don't think that is enough. I would suggest trying something like "Featuring cabojohns -- unique freeform cabochons for brooches, pendants, rings, and fine jewellery". Or something like that to tell people what a cabojohn is, and why it is special. If all they have is your card, and they have never heard of a Cabojohn, it needs an explanation.
It's only those two points that I take issue with. I like the design of the card, and I definitely think it is important that you have a card to pass around. I just think that you need to project a more professional image than is given on your current card. (Plus stop giving your stuff away for free -- no business ever survived for very long that way ;D)
Sorry for being the downer on this thread, but I really think you need to reconsider the image that you are projecting to your potential customers.
Don

I'm sorry I have to agree with Don, the Bitemetwice Lapidary really caught me off guard. That is the only thing I don't like about your card, the rest is nice, I love the background. As for "Cabojohns" that might peek enough curiosity in someone they just have to come and check it out. Shoot the average person doesn't even know what a cabachon is. Tami

don and tami im glad you both told me your true opinions thanks ---- thats one of the reasons i went with only 250 cards to see how people take them i havent ordered a sign for the shop yet because i havent made up my mind yet as to a name or even what should be on it hahaha--- thats why you guys and gals where first to see the cards-- i gave out a few today but got no responce from anyone good or bad --- so do me a favor dont hold back haha---- i said it many times befor if nobody says anything ill keep doin it wrong

Well Sands, I guess if I had read more here I wouldn't be bugging you with the PM's. *smile* He already knows that I'm praying he drops the bite me stuff but the design and cost of the cards, you still can't beat with a stick. There's only one other problem I see that really bugs the daylights out of me. I helped you out, anyone else see the problem here?
