I keep reading about the heat issues for those out West. How are y'all faring? Any blackouts? I saw that the Hoover damn electrical had a big fire. I hope none of y'all are affected by it. We've been having unseasonally cooler weather save for the last week or two. Only 96 today.

PNW Washington we have had a cooler summer until this week and next our heat has arrived at 90 on Monday thia coming. There will be a local shortage of ac units, fans and the like most people will be quite uncomfortable but we did reach triple digits ten years or so ago and it was awful. Us pnwers are mild acclimated weather folk generally. We shall See.

![Wood-3](https://res.cloudinary.com/crosbj/image/upload/v1631258294/1-DLC/Dave/1-Wood-3_r4iitv.jpg) There has been remarkably little change in my lifetime. All this ![(scared011)](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/images/WLEFQVEELOwwMsPBXpId.gif) about climate change is a bunch of hooey. I grew up in Austin Texas, popping hot tar bubbles in the streets with my toes. The hottest day of my life was 109 in 1954 (strangely missing from the 2nd list below. ![icon_think](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/images/dMjJe0WspZWYIHkDeZiT.gif) ) when I was 18. We talked about frying eggs on the sidewalk, and imagined it was 125 degrees . . . ![(read-it)](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/images/fAofqzJJremfMIoENKck.gif) But there is little difference between then and now. www.currentresults.com/Yearly-Weather/USA/TX/Austin/extreme-annual-austin-high-temperature.php103 July 29, 1960 39 100 August 07, 1959 + 38 103 August 13, 1958 39 104 July 30, 1957 40 104 August 16, 1956 + 40 102 August 09, 1955 + 39 109 July 26, 1954 43106 August 09, 1953 41 102 September 01, 1952 + 39 105 August 17, 1951 + 41 100 August 17, 1950 + 38 101 August 16, 1949 38 103 August 22, 1948 + 39 Home|Weather Extremes|Weather Averages| USA| Canada| Europe| Austin - Highest Temperature for Each Year Here's where you'll find answers to questions about the highest temperatures and hottest days in Austin, Texas. Answers to those questions and much more can be found quickly and easily in the list below of record high temperatures. It's hot here in SE Texas and despite the "sky is falling" local media idiots we have around here, it always gets hot here in the summer!! I grew up in a house without A/C so I suppose my parents should have been reported to Child Protective Services. A good part of my current days are spent out in the yard/garden/garage. Not foolish about it, drinking plenty of water and always have a good hat.
One thing that has definitely changed here in Texas and is the root of most of our current problems is the population. From 1980 to 2020 the population increased 104% and that's with an undercount of probably 2 million people. The resulting strain on Electric and Water is severe and we will be suffering the effects for a long while. Fortunately for me I tolerate hot weather(and cold for that matter as my dad would not have heaters on at night!, calling CPS!!!)
I will stop here before I get too political!!!

Supposed to be between 110-115F today, which is pretty normal and usually gets hotter. What sucks is that this is our monsoon season so storm clouds keep rolling in kicking up the humidity.
The transformer that caught on fire at the dam they said was an old transformer, so it does not sound like anyone lost any power over it.

We are supposedly under a extreme heat warning today and tomorrow. High forecasted at 99 today and 100 tomorrow. Yesterday it was supposed to get up to 98 (with no heat warning). ![(icon_think)](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/images/jBMyAPGosbfMxKhyraYW.gif) It only got up to 92 yesterday according to our weather station. We're in our monsoon (yay!) and have been getting some much needed moisture. The Valley is always 10-15 degrees higher than us.

Hi Tela As per usual I’m hanging out under rock Seems to be a typical hot summer Haven’t gone down to the Salt River in some time Morning have been relatively to humid to go hang out at Twin Lake w/ the grackle’s Even those wise bird are lying low ![https://res.cloudinary.com/rock-n-hearts-inc/image/upload/v1656960944/Overload/gracklethatwasn_t_birdfeed4thjuly2022.jpg](https://res.cloudinary.com/rock-n-hearts-inc/image/upload/v1656960944/Overload/gracklethatwasn_t_birdfeed4thjuly2022.jpg) Perhaps some monsoon storms will materialize this weekend. Always a gneiss break. What we really need is a wet winter This lack of rain for months is discouraging And the bigger problem is air quality The Hohokam were incredible They staked out barren hot spot and persevered Why did they do it? All I can imagine is they chose this god forsaken hell So they wouldn’t be troubled by other warring tribes Hard to amass a party to traverse this brutal desert The northern pueblo tribes had better weather Butte they had to build rock fortress on buttes for defensive reasons I suppose Was reading that the Aztecs originated out of the Desert area They kept wandering south They were a rough group Finally found a water source and place to build. Once they got a toe hold they really dominated guess moisture , mosquitoes, mushrooms & mold is better than dry dry dry Hot hot hot Thanks for asking I like to watch the ripples ![https://res.cloudinary.com/rock-n-hearts-inc/image/upload/v1658430767/Overload/tempetownlakecoolingwaters07212022.jpg](https://res.cloudinary.com/rock-n-hearts-inc/image/upload/v1658430767/Overload/tempetownlakecoolingwaters07212022.jpg)

We've had several days of 100+ and are in for several more. I'm an AC contractor. I just finished my lunch. Time for me to go crawl back on a roof so I can get just a little closer to the sun!

On this day in weather history: 1988 - While cool air invaded the central U.S., unseasonably hot weather continued over the western states. The temperature at Spring Valley, NV, soared from a morning low of 35 degrees to an afternoon high of 95 degrees. Fallon, NV, reported an all-time record high of 108 degrees, and Death Valley, CA, reported their sixth straight day of 120 degree heat. (The Weather Channel) (The National Weather Summary)
Things are pretty normal in WI. 90 degrees and humidity up to 40% today. Higher humidity Friday. Good chance of severe storms come Saturday. Then a cool down to upper 70's.

I like being in the low 80s temperature. We’ve been in 80s and 90s, and over. No humidity problem. Air quality so-so. We do our outside work in the evening when it is below 80.
We have air conditioning, and ceiling fans, and cold water and ice cubes.
Our area needs water. We cut our water usage, so all our fruit is small or non-existent. Local critters hungry and thirsty.
We are OK!

For some strange reason I love living in an area where temps range from -30 to over 100 in a year.
I don't like super low temps and wind chills of -20 or less. Highs in the 90's+ with humidity over 50%. When living in AZ, I had no problem being outside in dry heat of 100+.
In Wisconsin, if the temp is over 85 and the humidity is over 50%, I cannot handle it. Been like that since the 1990's,when I had heat stroke at Road America. It was a very bad experience that could have been prevented.

Totally agree. We have ice cream every Thursday. Some weeks have two Thursdays! Depends on the weather and what is going on.
