When we were young, we started selling rocks at a craft show at the local mall. I worked a regular 9-5 and so my wife was set up at the mall and I joined her after 17:00 for a weekend show. She had a well dress, proper looking lady come up and looked at the geodes (Tennessee, Mex Coconuts and Zacatecas) and she got all excited and said, "I Know What These Are!!! Their GONADS!!!, right". My wife with a strait face said, "you mean Geodes". I have never looked a geodes the same way since. parfive thanks for sharing I had another good laugh. And great pics in the article.

Coming in here months late but was intrigued by this crystal cave. So so beautiful. Near me, on Lake Erie is an island called Put-In-Bay. it holds what they call the worlds largest geode (their words, not mine). Hubby and I went here years ago and it was pretty impressive. Not a beautiful as the one posted above, but still cool that it's so close to me
