This material was purchased in San Antonio in the 80’s and was from a western state. What is it and maybe a mine name?

Possibly inspiration mine malachite, maybe Ray mine. Both mines in same general location in Az.

I have only seen those patterns in Congo malachite. As far as I know these patterns do not occur elsewhere.

I see a lot of gem silica in that.

Yeah, weird ... and beautiful ... almost certainly malachite but brecciated with gem silica/agate. I would love to see a bit of the agate isolated with some back lighting to see if it's as gemmy as it looks.
