It was last Wednesday... Over 95 degrees Fahrenheit... Bright sun... And I simply NEEDED to get the "F" out of the city! Target destination: The river Rißbach. Discovered the area while browsing around on Google Maps when updating my "Favorite areas". Basically you get there when NOT truing onto the little toll road to the Wallgau region but simply keep on the main road for a little while. So, after a few kilometers I found a nice parking spot and... went down into - well more onto - a sea of stones. River? Stream? Streamlet? ANY water? Zero. Unforgiving, dry heat. Piercing sun, reflecting from the millions of bright stones. Not a soul in sight. Perfect. Fascinating landscape, wandered around for a good hour before an area opened up to my right. That was supposed to be the stream Fischbach, joining into the river Rißbach - in theory. All stones - zero water. But me being me, I was interested how far this area might go on... so I just put one foot in front of the other and kept walking. After a couple of minutes I heard the sound of falling water and shortly thereafter discovered a truly magical place. Nature formed beautiful basins ( Gumpen), filled with ice cold water. Perfect to just sit in and be refreshed while looking at this overheated, dry "stone sea". Further inside the little canyon it was fairly cool, great to take a little nap while listening to the sounds of water.
(Yes - the more accurate observer will notice that the last 10 pictures where taken in the region of Wallgau... HAD to pay a litte visit as I was nearby. )
A fantastic day. Nature equals bliss.

As always, I'm totally transfixed by your outings! As I was scrolling down through the pics...I was glad to see the pic where you had just come out of the water ended at your knees! LOL

I don't know about waterless, but I sure saw a lot of rocks. Beautiful scenery, too.

These are beautiful photos and breathtaking scenery! Thanks for letting us go on a trip "with" you! Thank all of you! It's such a joy to see that some of you really like my little "trip reports"... while I have all the peace and serenity during the trip.
Best of both worlds really. I have my peace and quiet, able to do it all at my pace... but then I'm able to share it later to some extent and others can find a litte enjoyment in that.
Awesome!

I don't know about waterless, but I sure saw a lot of rocks. Beautiful scenery, too. I have to conceed, "waterless" was only the first experience. It just felt so strange walking in those river beds with zero water present. That obviously changed later... might have needed a qualifier there.

What kind of material is in the riverbed? Excellent pictures as always. My favorite picture is #2 above the yellow snail-start from the bottom.

Ordering a new lamp at the moment. Old one started to malfunction so it just went back to Amazon. As soon as I get the new one, pics of the stuff I collected are coming.
