When I saw this rough I thought it was wonderstone but I guess it's not. You can see a faint pattern on this end of the stone. I have it clamped in the vice standing on it's left side (in this pic) and I'm cutting off the large end of the stone . I was seeing the pattern in this pic I'm slabbing this right now. I've turned and so the face of my vice that's towards the front of the saw right against the circular pattern. The chunk is standing right on edge. These are the slabs I've got so far. There's a similar circular pattern on the far end that would end up being the final heel cut off. That's part of the reason I went this direction with the cut. I'm wondering if maybe I should turn this 90° and cut off what was the long side? Also does anyone have an ID on this?

I’m thinking it’s African queen picture jasper. That's what jumped into my my mind when I saw the pattern and the "granular" look to the rock...

It really is "granular" looking. Kind of like sandstone. It's also sparkly. I was concerned that it wouldn't polish but I did a sample piece last night and it seemed to work well.
