Haven't posted many cabs lately so thought I'd share some while have some free time this morning. First one is a piece of san Jacinto river gravel. Next two are fossil coral that I found in the landscape rocks of a local business. The first one is from an endcut of the material and is quite large- close to 60mm long. Next two are crazy lace. The first one was also from an endcut and is quite large as well. Second one has fracture running down left side but isn't too noticable in hand. When turned sideways it looks like a fishing lure without the hooks. Not sure what this one is but I'm guessing maybe Shattuckite. Would like to get better polish on this so if any tips pls share. These are specular hematite that I had made for the cab contest but getting good pictures was troublesome. The face of cabs are the rough druzy type exterior from the rock. Hard to tell in pics but they sparkle like crazy. And last is a group shot mainly of some smaller cabs that I made prior to last months cab contest to turn into some earrings and rings for my daughter. There is some silver sheen obsidian, tiger eye, green aventurine, blue apatite, pyrite and more. Penny in pic for scale- Thats all for now. Thanks for taking a peek!

Michael, those are all spectacular! I don't think I'll ever get sick of seeing pieces of that coral! I really think you hit the jackpot with that find! That Specular Hematite looks great! The Shattuckite - I have yet to work a copper complex that I can figure out how to get that "mirror" finish we all want. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone get it without stabilizing the material...but I'll be watching to see if anyone has anything to chime in. (It's still gorgeous! )

As you can probably tell I have become fond of silver sheen obsidian! And yes they are small! My daughter really wants a apir of earrings made from the obsidian. Unfortunately I'm not a wrapper and not fond of drilling holes so was kinda stuck on how to make some for her. Found some small earring studs at craft store so going to glue them to that. Buuut daughter doesn't like heavy earrings either so made them quite small and thin!

I definitely hit the jackpot with the coral! Especially since I found it in the landscaping of a grocery store. And for being river worn it was almost completely fracture free throughout! That's good to know regarding copper material. I thought It was just me lol. Thanks!!

Some really nice cabs. I'm really liking the first one. Thank you! That first cab was the only slice of that pc of gravel not ruined by fractures. I really like the look so am happy I was able to make something out of it.

Excellent work on all those! That poppy-ish pattern on the first one is really nice, so are the coral ones

Buuut daughter doesn't like heavy earrings either so made them quite small and thin! Looks like you succeeded - I bet she'll love them.
