Hi Lynn
Is this the first time in the Phoenix area
Which way are you driving in ?
Can’t really suggest a productive rock hounding spot in the Phoenix area.
I certainly have my eyes all over it and its hard to find good stuff.
Of course ya know it not the best time to be out hounding
Butte the geology is volcanic in the east area.
Especially out by Florence- Globe area.
If you go out by Florence there is and easy pull off across from Thompson Peak.
---Which is an awesome sandstone Butte worth taking in .
Its right by Boyce Thompson Aboretoruim,
Which is awesome desert plant tour---
Right across from Thompson Peak on US 60 is an easy pull off
that as some really great volcanic quartz/ chalcedony
I started a cairn at the bottom of fine saguaro, Please add to it
Take in the Superstition Mountains, Top Hat, 4 Peaks .
Usury Pass drive is fine scenery.
Just a short drive out on 202 east bound at Val Vista
are easy viewing areas especially during sun setting time.
Don’t know much about morning> I’m sure its gneiss haha
If you can drive up the Beeline Highway 87 there is some easy pull off the do some volcanic hounding and see all those sites.
Anyway Lynn enjoy and if your in the Tempe area well go see the Big Horn Sheep in Papago Park
Anyway give a honk
top Hat
oyeaj Lynn
take picture or two so I can see different perspective
it would be great if some loco's
did meet at Papago Park
