I just got a fabulous box from bstone & have a couple of mysteries.
Mystery # 1
I got a big piece of this stuff & first thought was Dino bone.
But I don't know if that's the case.
On my primitive hardness test , it comes up as 7 mohs.
Any idea ??
Thanks
Patty

Not bone, but maybe Llanite? Little blue crystals are what I'm going off of.

Pretty sure it's Llanite, never seen one that looks rounded as this one does. Must have been from a creek or river.

Looks like Royal Aztec Lace Agate - I think that what's it's called- for some reason that doesn't sound right. It doesn't get real big. Nice piece!

Excellent, you two are good !

Ok I have another
Mystery 3
This one is interesting - it's a hexagonal crystal ( or at least shaped like one)
It has a grayish blue to the face.
Mohs 7

It's a funny one - it looks like it grew as a crystal with layers. I'm thinking I need to cut a piece & see what it really looks like.
Thanks for looking, Patty

Me either. Patty liveoak is it chatoyant? Maybe- it's quite weathered looking.
But maybe when it's cut & polished , it might be.
Lots of angled crystal planes in it.
Thanks,
Patty

The only thing I can think of is Silkstone. Wild guess.

Thank you Tela, rockjunquieWhen I google morrisonite, I see some with that pea soup green color, which is what this has. Obviously the better stuff would have more of a pattern to it. OK, time to get myself to work . Thank you again, Patty

Maybe or Carrasite. Just guessing again. That could be, too, but you don't usually see as much green in it.
