So there I was, cutting an admittedly too-thick chunk of mozarkite to make a nice oversized dome when, dangit, it cracked. But check out what was inside! Not sure how to cab it now, but definitely happy to have the chance to figure it out! What would YOU do with it?

Very, very pretty! I bet you could still cab it.

WICKED COOL! I'd definitely be cabbing that beauty! There was a cab contest awhile back that has some great examples of cabs with druzy pockets. I'd do a search of the Creating Cabochons forum for "druzy"...there's been some amazing cabs...and I'm betting these two pieces could really make two great looking cabs!

maybe you could add any tips on cabbing them as well.

Thanks for posting the link Patty...I didn't feel like looking it up last night. LOL I know the one I did for the contest wasn't exactly the same type of druzy...but there's several decent examples in that thread. For me, there's no question about creating a cab with a druzy like the one's the OP has. When I first started, I shied away from those areas...but now I try to make a druzy the focal point of the cab. In the OP's pictures, the quartz crystals are very pronounced and are (comparatively) large crystals, which I think would make an exceptional example of a "druzy cab".

I just got a thunder egg type druzy in a box I just got & plan to try and cab it jasoninsd although I've never done anything like that, so I'm hoping for tips so I don't screw it up.

Patty, just cab it like you would any other cab. There really is no difference except that you don't have to smooth out the void where the druzy is.

Don't let the druzy put you off- it's just like Robin says- just pretend like it's not there.
