jasoninsd Thank you so much Jason! any pointers or tips? I really don't have any. I see a couple tool marks, but I still struggle with that too...but it does get easier as you go to know what is or isn't going to mar the metal. My only concern with this design is whether the stone is secure. Meaning, can it slip out of the top...as nothing seems to be securing it into the wrap from being "lifted upward"?

jasoninsdI seen something about conditioning your tools which I should do. I haven’t, and they are cheap ones from Walmart. I didn’t want to spend too much if I didn’t enjoy it. Your exactly right lol! It slips right out. I realized that afterwards. I should have wrapped the wires over the tops instead of the sides. But it will probably just be sat to look at for memories of my first wrap. I guess I could run a wire around the top and connect it to the back if I wanted to wear it.

That's beautiful, Ashley!!! I love the silver wire with the color of the stone. I have nothing to nik-pik about. It would be easier to say what's right. I like that it's nice and snug. I like how there are virtually no tool marks, I like how you were able to handle and control the wires, I like that the back is flat, I like that your top loop is centered-and- if I come back to it, which I probably will- I'm sure I'll see something else I like.

I get it about waiting to condition the tools! LOL I don't necessarily recommend it...and it's kinda "blasphemous" when it comes to wire-wrapping...but what you COULD do on this one (rather than re-doing it) is to put a small drop of super-glue on the backside where the wire meets the stone. It will secure it THIS time for this wrap...and don't do it again! LOL

I got a new pair of pliers that I absolutely love. My fav by far. I have yet to condition them. Every time I get ready to work, I don't want to stop and do it. I should leave them on the table as a reminder. My last wrap had a bunch of tool marks.

That's awesome, ashley! You did a great job on your first try. You can secure that stone if you wanted to. It will change the look of it a little bit, but it wouldn't fall out of the wrap. I would use one wire and wrap it twice around the wires right at the top of the stone, bring it down in the back and and under the wires at the "x", back up to the other side of the stone and two more wraps around the wires on the other side. You could always try it and see if it looks acceptable to you. You can always take it off again if you don't like the look. It would make it wearable. I really think you should sport that one around town. I like it a lot!

It looks like all you would need to do is bend one of the top loop wires across the top. Hammer the one left so it's good and stiff and use for the bail.

I secured it in there. I need to dress it up a bit and even out the wires but I’ll do that later.

I think you did a great job, it looks really good- better than my first wrap. 🙂 There's a thread somewhere on here that shows people's first attempts and how much they've progressed, if I get a chance I'll see if I can find it.
