Got my first vibratory tumbler, and jumped right in. Started on stage 2 for my first run (already hit the rocks with a rotary for stage 1). Towards the end of the run, the threaded rod worked it’s way out, and the whole bowl came off. Made a mess. Thing I caught it fairly quickly, get everything back in, added a touch of water, and finished the run. Then again, when working stage three, it did it again. I didn’t have time to clean everything up right away, so I spent a bit of time with a toothbrush cleaned everything out today. The bowl, lid, rod, and all the rocks.
So, I’m either missing something, or this is a common thing that I need to figure out how to prevent. Threadlock the rod into the base and torque it down? I think I just hand tightened it the first couple times. Am I missing something?

Ah, I need to use the washer and nut at the base! Duh. I just cleaned up another batch of it falling over, so now’s a good time to fix it. Thank you for the pictures.

It hasn’t came off since! I appreciate the help. My batches didn’t really come out that well, but I have a better idea what to do next time.

Neo I looked online for a TV-5 manual, and although I found one, it wasn't that good. However, here is the link to a YouTube video going over operating procedures for the vibe you have. Maybe it will help too, but, since the stem hasn't come off again you may be good to go with that. As for the quality of your rocks after each stage, make sure to clean the rocks and bowl very well between stages. Did they send you two different bowls, one for grinding and one for polishing? If so make sure to only use the polishing one for that stage, to avoid contamination. *Also, I noticed in the video it looked like they cleaned out their bowls in the sink. NEVER pour out rock slurry into your household drain, or it may harden into cement and you will clog your system, resulting in major repairs and cost to you!! Search this site for other ways to dispose of the slurry instead. markb
