Those are awesome jasoninsd! I love all of them. The last Ohio flint is my favorite. I finally got some plain graveyard point and pink lady to try again after what you've said about them. I really like the shapes. I don't do many sharp shapes. I'm more of an oval kind of guy. -Nicholas

DANG, JASON! I'm loving your work lately! (less pears ) The shapes you got going on are killing it. Are they freeform? Totally awesome work. I love the red moss Holt and the GYP.

I can't wait to see what you come up with the GYPP and the Pink Lady! (As you know...I haven't been real "known" for anything other than teardrops up to this point! LOL) WOW! True beauties! Adrian Thanks Adrian! You know when a material (the flint) comes off the 280 wheel and it's already shining, it's going to be a great polish! LOL DANG, JASON! I'm loving your work lately! (less pears ) The shapes you got going on are killing it. Are they freeform? Totally awesome work. I love the red moss Holt and the GYP. Thanks Tela! Freeforms she says!!! Awhile back I picked up some new templates from Cabtopia and then I had some shapes I drew up with my French Curves and made my own template. I think it's the first time I used the shape for that second Flint...the elongated offset thingy. I really kind of like that shape... Thanks for the tag. Those are outstanding. It is REALLY tough to pick a favorite, as they are all great. Thanks Dave! That first Holt Canyon is interesting as there was NO indication of "fractures" when I cut the freeform. As I was working it, I got nervous...but they're "healed" fractures, not fresh ones. That second Flint piece had that quarts circle show up out of nowhere. Just a little quartz sphere that was in the flint. If you look closely at the quartz, it's refracting little specks of reds and blues. You can barely see it with the naked eye, but it's pretty pronounced wearing an optivisor.

As always, they're gorgeous! My favorite out of all these beauties is the first flint with the dendrites. That piece is killing it!

The pure red moss would be my first pick. Like the shape on it, too.
Think it's time to learn more about Holt Canyon. Our club used to go on extended field trips up into Utah, but we weren't able to go on any of them.
I wouldn't have guessed either of the first two were from there based on the stuff our club brought back.

I was dying to cab that piece from the moment I cut the slab! It wasn't my first choice in shapes...but it's about all the rock had to offer. I have to come up with something "interesting" for that negative space on the right when I wrap it...but I haven't put a ton of brain power towards it yet! LOL The pure red moss would be my first pick. Like the shape on it, too.

Thanks Vince! When Dave said he was sending me a piece of Holt Canyon, I Googled it to see what it was going to look like. It's close to some of the other pictures I found online...yet different. The strands of moss seem more "stringy" than in other pieces. It really does remind me of some Mexican Moss pieces I've worked in the past. ETA - I think Dave or another forum member (who Dave got it from) self collected this piece on a trip there...

Nice jasoninsd, I'm with Robin, I like the first flint with the dendrites. Good composition and a complimentary shape. I think Tela is very right, your new shapes are outstanding. Nice to see variety Keep up the good work !

They all look great. I'm envious of some of the amazing material you're working but I also realize that it's not just the material. You're revealing some beautiful stuff in these stones. I love the shape of the first Ohio flint!

Thanks Patty! The new shapes are definitely more "time consuming" while making than a teardrop shape...but I think they're a lot more exciting to look at. They all look great. I love the shape of the first Ohio flint! Thank you SO much! That first Ohio Flint piece almost had an inside swoop along the top edge...but I didn't want to cut into the dendrites...so I left the edge straight.

I guess time will tell, after you wire wrap them, if the customer is willing to pay a higher price for something different.
My brain says yes, but I guess you'll find out.
Interestingly though ,you have the advantage of having both the standard pear shapes & the fancy ones, so you can play the pricing off each other. You'll find out what the market will bear

I'm not too sure they'd allow for any significant price differential...but you're right...time will tell...depending if I ever get busy and get these things listed for sale! LOL

Man jasoninsd! Those are all beautiful cabs. That second Holt cyn cab has some serious curves going on. You must have really taken your time on that one. I can see a lot of things that could have gone wrong with that one and yet it turned out amazing. Nicely done.

Yeah, I've really had a thing lately for curves...well...truth be told...I've ALWAYS had a thing for curves...now it's carried over to cabs! LOL - They definitely take more time and concentration than a teardrop shape...but that makes them for more of a challenge...which is fun for me. I'm about to post another thread with some more "curves" I finished up this morning.
