I wanted to try some thing different this time.
In fact I had this stone mostly wrapped in a similar style to my last one & I cut it off & decided it was time to move on !
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it, although in the end I think the prongs might be a tad bit long, especially on the back.
The stone has a pretty good dome, which is what I as focusing on longer prongs. But it works.
Thanks for looking,
Patty

Very neat! I like it. Don't worry abt the prong length on the back. It's flat, so it shouldn't cause any problems. Your bindings look good, too.

I think you are doing very well. Pat yourself on the back for me.

That looks great Patty! I have such a tough time with the prong spacing, looks like you nailed it. Tough to keep that much binding that neat looking too!

Thanks rockbrain , I got this tip from a tutorial I saw from Tommy , and maybe this is the way your actually are supposed to do it- but it was a first for me. In the tutorial, he showed that first he took the 2 outer wires, bent the prongs exactly where you've planned them on paper (in my case with a piece of painters tape), then he put the middle wires with them, made the bundle, and then he did his bindings. Worked pretty good. As I said maybe that's the way everyone does it, but I had to learn it & I certainly didn't want my prong to accidentally fall onto of the druzy's. Thanks for looking, Patty

Way to go Patty! I struggled with prong length on the first couple prong pieces I did. It's hard to trust they only need to "clip" the edge of the dome. You'll get there! I use the painter's tape method also. There's no messing up the true perimeter of the cab when you use the painter's tape. I make sure I mark any corners or points while the tape is on the cab, that way it's easier to make sure everything gets spaced accordingly.

My bonus on this one was figuring out (thanks to Tommy) that I could /should bend my prongs BEFORE I have any wire on the stone. I liked that a lot, much more controllable. I usually bend the cradle wires or prongs on the stone itself, as I'm doing the wrap.
Learned something new - but as I said, maybe that's the way everyone already does it - I'm just a slow learner.

Beautiful way to accent a superb cab! I really like it. Thank you Susan.
It was my first cab with a druzy, and I didn't want to hide them. I was just glad it worked out.

Nice job on that. I struggle with prongs and use painter's tape for marking the spots.

I have this thing with wire wrapping, I like it simple without all the swirls and such.
I think that in it's own way it's more difficult.
Those swirls & things hide a multitude of sins up top.
So I continue working at it in my spare time
Thanks for looking,
Patty
