I found this at local creek under a railroad track bridge and initially thought it was a really dense rock. But once I cut into it I came to realize it's definitely more metal than stone. I thought maybe it was some steel balls encased in concrete or something similar. But the exterior was very weathered and almost melted looking. That made me think it could be a by-product from some industrial workings or something. Figured if anyone would know what it is it would be someone here. As you can see I tried to cab it just for the fun of it and turned out kk da cool. 2nd pic the metal is reflecting the black shirt I'm wearing.

Huh. I have no idea what it is, but it's really cool looking. With all those almost perfect metal orbs, I'd agree it's some type of by-product. Do you have a picture of it before you started grinding it?

hummingbirdstones , this is the only pic I took before grinding. Doesn't show exterior of piece but can kinda tell around the edges what it looked like.

Looks like some kind of slag. Tony Thanks! That's what I figured it might be. That is after my initial hope of some valuable meteorite or something lol

When I first saw it my first impressions was that it did kind of resemble a super rare bencubbinite meteorite. They would not have bubbles in them though, which this appears to have.

I think Mark K is the winner! I did a quick Google search and couldn't verify but if it's bauxite I would guess that it's not magnetic.

Plus the fact that there is a bauxite processing plant near you.

So much for that theory! Of course, as I said I was guessing on the magnetism. What's odd is if you do a Google search most of the bauxite images show the little balls, but they don't look metallic. Most of the pics are of ore. But there's such a similarity to the structure of this and the ore and that fact that there is a bauxite plant near you. By the way, cool looking cab. Definitely unique!

I'm thinking it's the sealing cement used in this process, since it was found near a rail line,

The tracks behind the old house used to have this as the rock base. It is bauxite. Some of it has impurities. Some of it had big rust stains in it.
