Are you a Republican, a Democrat, or a Southerner? This little test will help you decide:
Scenario:
You’re walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges at you…
You are carrying a 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
******************************
Democrat’s Answer:
Well, that’s not enough information to answer the question! What is a 1911 and what does .45 ACP mean?
Does the man look poor or oppressed? Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation?
Does the pistol have an appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he’d be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus. This is all so confusing!
****************************** Republican’s Answer:
BANG!
****************************** Southerner’s Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click…..
(Sounds of reloading)
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click.
Daughter: “Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Speer Gold Dots or Federal Premium hollow points?!”
Son: “Can I shoot the next one?!”
Wife: “You are NOT taking that to a Taxidermist!”

Place IS just too darn quiet without him. Someone needs to make sure to dust the spiderwebs off now and then. Do have a question, where are you getting your fluorite rough?

Andrea, I skimmed the thread again, but maybe missed what I was looking for. Could you please save me some reading and say specifically where you ordered the parts from? I can get the part names & numbers out of the manual. Did you just call BD for the parts? What did they run you? (so I'm not shocked when told!) Thank you

Vegas style.
Not hardly pray & spray with the 590A1 - the long one above to non-shooters. I was in a shotgun class and we were doing drills shooting on the move. The instructor asked if I was missing the target. Not hardly, the shots were all going through the same hole in the target - on the move. Instructor watched and confirmed. I like the ghost ring sight on the A1.
Now the Shockwave - short one may take some practice, but don't count it out of the game. Here is a video of a guy shooting skeet with it! The skeet shooting starts at 2:25 doubles at 4:30
Not such sighted shooting like with a long gun, but with some practice I don't see a problem hitting what I want to. Taking it to my class in Alabama in November, looking forward to putting it to the test.
Shotguns are fun! - although technically, the Shockwave is NOT a shotgun. It is classified as a "firearm". Mossberg figured out a way to get around the rules (legally) to make and sell this gun. Complicated (too much typing) but that is why you can get a shotty with a 14" barrel without the tax stamp. Way good!

Just got them today? Wow... what did they have to make them from scratch? Note to self: order a set
I (obviously) haven't had mine apart, but I don't understand why there are not threads cut in the top half as well. Have to look at the saw schematic to see if I can figure that out.
So the guy you spoke with couldn't tell you why you had the thread gouges in the top piece? Seems that without fixing the problem that it would just happen again.

I'm not a vibe guy, so I may be wrong here -
It would seem to me that with dry tumbling in a vibe, that the vibrations would shake the polish out of the media being used as filler. What is to carry it throughout the load and not just get sifted to the bottom of the bowl?
Would dampening the media (corncob, walnut shell, whatever) allow the polish to stick to it better and therefore keep the polish in play?
I can see using corncob to cushion the load, but is there a happy sweet spot somewhere between dry and wet? Would that make a difference?

Tried getting a deer lease on the north property along the coral section for miles of the Withlacoochee but they had a waiting list. It has a 4WD trail along the river, no darn boat needed. Same principle as a deer lease, but for rock hounding. The owner could still lease it out for deer season. As long as the coral harvesting didn't mess with any agricultural uses, I would think a land owner would be thrilled to lease to someone that just wants the stupid old rocks down by the river. Land access would be a HUGE plus. Being able to bring in a backhoe, as long as any holes are refilled would be even better!

I'm with wigglin' - flawless shiny rocks please. I'm going to add pudding stone to my shopping list and give them a try. Nothing on eBay worth having right now, but I'll make a note and keep an eye out. I'll get back to ya in a year!

That Raytech 10 that was on eBay last month for $725 just got lowered (today) to like $550 with free shipping. Don't know anything about the condition other than from the pictures in the listing. Seek and ye shall find.
Mel, you see the new girl (introduction area thread) was just at William Holland?

Me too. But it ain't going anywhere, so I just didn't bother with it. Figured the longer the polish run the better.

You need to find (me/us) THE acre(s) of land to buy that has the best coral. Bring in a backhoe and go to town!
Sell and repeat when coral has been harvested.
Or maybe the present land owner(s) could be talked into renting the land out if it is restored when the digging is done.

LOL I didn't get around to getting it out. Wife unit home on weekends messes up my day. Will pull it tomorrow AND take & post a picture when the boss lady is outta my hair. Haven't posted many pictures since photobucket went down. Need to get this new Rockshow hosting to be as easy to me as it was with photobucket. Been slacking on that. Here is a little piece of Stone Canyon that I tumbled a while back to hold ya over -

The ceramics were either 5/8 or 7/8, don't recall as it has been (at least) 4 months since I put them in. Pretty sure that they may even be the ceramics that I put in there when I went to AO 60 or 80. In that case, they went in back in May.
I just went and checked the notes on this tumble, and I started this solo rock last December 19th. So, I'm just shy of 10 months on this rock. Barrel very full, probably 90% during the polish run. I can still hear the rock thump in there. Low speed tumbler, maybe 20 RPM
The 4 months long polish run was an experiment for me. As was this entire huge rock tumble with no filler rocks. Reckon I could tumble big 8 to 10 pound rocks all the time if I get a 40 pound tumbler. Maybe someday. This should show me if it is worth the expense, time and effort.
