TURD TUESDAY This one must have been soft enough to splat into a pancake shape when it hit the ground.

RWA3006. But being really hard of hear is not fun. Yep, I'm afraid that's around the corner for me because I'm getting worse. The folks I know who struggle with it become more easily isolated from others and it's sad to see.

Hope things are going your way. I had to laugh because lately I've been having fun feigning that I can't hear people and I've almost gotten a beating or two from it.
My hearing is actually getting worse, but it's still fun to aggravate them and then put a stupid, I don't understand look on my face when I get called out on it. Teens make the very best targets for this form of entertainment, but my wife is not.

For some reason when I see pieces like this one, "cave paintings" instantly come to mind. They remind me of deep space photos of galaxies and nebulae.

Beautiful holster and leather work. Do you hand stitch it? RWA3006I have an antique leather trunk lined with gorgeous ostrich leather. I sometimes wonder about taking it apart. It's a lot of of very nice leather. The exterior is made with super thick hide of unknown origin.
Yes, so far everything I do is hand stitched. I inherited a leather sewing machine from my grandfather but it's buried in storage. If I keep doing leather work I'll have to dig it out.

Happy birthday. You ought to go do something reckless and irresponsible and report back to us on the results.

The slab on the bottom right of the top photo looks dark and disturbed. Who knows what malevolent mass must have jettisoned out the cloaca of the hideous beast that spawned it?

It sure looks like it was worked by human to me. The knapped edges are so equidistant between the serrations that it implies deliberate human manipulation. Nice find.

Here's another holster I just made. This one has some ostrich shin skin in it.

Here's one that had numerous voids filled with calcite crystal. If the light and photography were better you could see the undercutting from the polishing process, the calcite being softer than the hard agate surrounding it.

agatewhisperer It's the ghostly remnant of a tree limb cross section that the hadrosaur ate that was not fully digested, somewhat analogous to corn kernels in poo now days. You can actually count the rings of the wood in your "stool sample." That's what probably prompted 1dave to exclaim it is museum grade, which I would say is true. The scientific community has known for a while that leaves and tree limbs were staples of the hadrosaur diet and pines and other evergreens were prominent at that time. I'll find a photo to post that has a cross section of a petrified limb from the Blue Forest in Wyoming along side a cut of coprolite so you can see the similarities.

agatewhisperer well look at that! The middle photo shows two limb ghosts, and one of them is a real good one! I hope the others are as good when you cut them. eta... there's another ghost limb at 12 o'clock in the top photo that was bisected by the saw.
