I replaced all the motors in mine with Lortone motors years back. There was a thread on here years back how to do it.I got longer bolts and used them to attach the motor. The ones on there are too short to the best of my knowledge.Been many years since I've changed them out.The thread gave the bolt number and length.

Kudos to Tony catmandewe and the usps.He shipped my box in Utah Saturday morning and was by my door in Texas this morning!! A large chunk in the box weighed 16 lbs and if it had been a quarter of an inch wider, couldn't have gotten it in my vice. Anyway, started knawing on it today, lots of cuts to go! Got it in thirds. snuffy

Been there.Would recommend you carry a couple 5 gal.buckets with plenty bottles of water and snacks. There is no shade, except for a small washing shack.Bare ground.Hats and sunscreen. We went in September and it was hot.All in all,a good experience. After you get tired of looking for diamonds, fill your buckets up with agates and jaspers on your way out, don't want to lug them around full of rocks when you first get there. Here is a container of agates and jasper to give an example of whats there Have fun. Me and my sons stayed in Horseshoe Casino in Bossier and made a day trip up there.Thats probably out for you and your daughter. Also watch those 55 mph speed limits!!! My son donated to Arkansas law. snuffy

Your saws don't have a movable tensioner pulley on an arm? If not it should, and then you can use all the speeds if you wish. If I'm cutting hard agates and jaspers, which is just about all I cut, I always run the slowest setting. On my 14" HP it's still pretty fast. A slower cut definitely increases blade life and can also make a better cut surface that's easier to grind, sand, and polish, especially if you polish a lot of flats like geode halves and pet wood. Yeah,it has the tensioner pulley on it.The auto parts store only had belts an inch shorter,or larger.Thought the shorter one would work, but shoulda got the larger one. Will get one the next trip to town. But it is cutting so much better, would leave it like this if there wasn't concern on blade life. snuffy

I have always ran my 16 and 18 HP saws at the slowest speed, using the large pulley, ever since I got them.My 16 was stopping the cutting midrock on larger hard agates.Had to replace the belt and got home and it wouldn't fit on the largest pulley.I put it on the smaller middle pulley and that sped the saw up.Talk about a cutting rascal now!!
My question is,how will the increase in speed affect blade life,if any?
Thanks,

After looking at many pics, jaspelite seems to be the closest to this.Weight wise, compares to Mary Ellen Jasper I have. This material leans to maroon color when polished.
Thanks everyone!

Hmmm. Has more the look of jaspelite to me ( red jasper mixed with hematite). If it is jaspelite, the mud coming off the grinding wheel/saw should be red. Got to admit, I've never seen nickel silicate jasper but wouldn't nickel silicate be chrysoprase and be green?....Mel Most of the nickel silicate pics were in the green range, thats what made me think this isn't it.I'm with you on the jaspelite.

LOL. So did my wife, until I opened one up & showed her that the gutts & bones were still inside. She hasn't touched a can of my sardines since. A woman I know cleans the sardines guts out.Heck that's the best part!! snuffy

I always put a patch of heavy black tape under the lid to cover the bolt location. This stops ant wear in the center of the rubber gasket. This has worked for me for past 7 years. My 3 lortone tumblers 6-12--12 are running every day. I agree,I do the same! snuffy

Ijust picked these up from Lowes this morning. Will pot them up in gallon nursery pots in the hothouse-greenhouse.Will set them out in the garden in 5-6 weeks. And so it begins!!! snuffy Nice maters. Lowes? Meh..... Yeah, thats where I get them! Lowes,Home Depot, supplied by Bonnie. The only places I can depend on to get the Celebrity variety I plant.Tried all local suppliers, should have seen the results. They buy cheaper seed and stick a celebrity label in them because its the most popular. People buy them and when hardly any production from the plants, say must of been a bad year.I used to buy a dozen at a time from different sources and grew them side by side.Should have seen the different varieties that were supposed to be Celebrity.
