Hi Jeff, Welcome to the forum, and sorry for your patner's loss. I have to agree with Tony ( catmandewe). Based on the couple of photos this doesn't appear to be Pietersite. Could you get some photos from closer to the stone?

I (or rather, my employee) cut this one a couple months ago. I'm not sure of the origin, it was in a large black bin full of thundereggs from various locales.

I always enjoyed Ed's posts, and his signature signoff.
I'll bump this up to $200

Man, I'm such a sucker. In the hobby for less than a month, already have too much rough, and what do I do? Buy 16 pounds more. I have a feeling I'm in good company here. Thank you! I'll send you some good ones!

Update!!! My wife called me this morning to apologize for $250 she spent at Coyote Ugly when she did shots off the bartenders belly.... In response I didn't tell her about the rough I ordered from the Rock Shed this morning...LOL If it makes you feel any better, I just placed an order from barnhouselapidary (chunk of Pietersite!) and my wife is sitting right next to me cruising Facebook...she never saw it happening! LOL rxscram - my order was over $100...but I chose the "other" shipping, so it wasn't the free shipping like you asked. Thanks so much for the order!

Hey everybody, I've decided I'm going to do something I don't do very often... have a sale! This is exclusive to RTH members, and is good for everything in the store except for rock tumblers and tumbling subscription boxes. Here are the details: Website -> www.barnhouselapidary.com/online-storeDuring checkout, use coupon code " RTH_2023" and you'll receive 25% off the total. I only ask that you don't use the free shipping deal in conjunction with this sale, as that would be cost-prohibitive to me. I've got a lot of great material listed, including Pietersite, sugilite, and almost a thousand slabs and rough lots.

I looked at the feedback on this seller. Did you? I would NEVER buy anything from that seller. Wow! I've never seen an eBayer with review scores that low. I think there should be a reward for doing that poorly, lol.

Tommy pointed out that the links on my pictures were bad, so I corrected them.

I recently picked up a large (100-150 pound range) boulder of Clear Creek Plasma Agate at an estate sale. Slabbed up a couple slices, and it's yummy!

I've had a UV45 running, packed full, for a couple of years of operation without any problems. It's quite possible you just had a bad bowl, so it certainly doesn't hurt to try to contact them. You have been running a UV45 non-stop 24/7 for years without issue? So you are saying that you have generated many thousands of pounds of polished stones with the same bowl. That is cool--you must have quite the assembly line of tumblers to feed it. I'm lucky if I can get one year out of a UV18 bowl with non-stop use (coarse Sic in rotary to near perfection, then AOx in vibe for finishing). My last UV18 bowl lasted close to a year, and the replacement is showing considerable wear at 6 months and will probably last me a few more months...let alone years. No, not "non-stop, 24/7" use. That's stupid, asinine, and putting words in my mouth. Highly not appreciated, especially when I was trying to help. Regular use, yes. And my use of it isn't necessarily the same as yours... I use 220 grit in mine, and use it for fast knock-down and smoothing of ping-pong ball to racquet-ball sized rough.

Thanks for the info. I am really not looking to replace the bowl with the existing version or repair the current deformed one. Unexpectedly messing up 40lbs of stones in polish is discouraging. I am interested in utilizing a better design. I work in the medical field and it is unlikely I will have the time/energy to research, build, and test a prototype any time soon. It is possible that there is no better small-scale cost-effective solution short of buying a used industrial vibe, and in that event I will just have to rotary polish larger stones for the time being. I've had a UV45 running, packed full, for a couple of years of operation without any problems. It's quite possible you just had a bad bowl, so it certainly doesn't hurt to try to contact them.
