I've been wanting to go to Earnst Quarries for awhile (Sharktooth Hill), near Bakersfield. sharktoothhillproperty.com/www.facebook.com/ErnstQuarries/I was just looking at it and realized "Hey, this would be a great RTH group trip." Kids would love it, parents would love it . . . I've never been, but apparently you can find fossilized shark's teeth very easily, and sometimes if one is lucky, a Megalodon tooth. Looks like there are weekend days in May and June open. After that it gets too hot. I think it would just be a one day thing, although maybe it could be combined with another adventure up that way? Any interest?

I'll use the alabaster lamps to light my gungy old dirty rock cutting room! Hey, it's a dream house, I can do what I want!

Good to know. I'll get a petrified wood sink but a lamp out of the Onyx. For my dream house.

Someday I want a sink like that. Either that stuff, or Pet Wood. Sooo pretty.

Yeah he has it. Agree that wrapping it (or prong setting, if that's in your wheelhouse) would show it off best.

Great show! You've got the photography DOWN - beautiful job showing the color AND the shine. The Mozambique agate is my favorite, love the different patterns.

Gorgeous! The others are great but my favorite is the moss. That's a beautiful pattern in it and you did a great job framing it.

It's an old Lortone arbor. The one I made my supergrinder on. Huge overhang of the hood, would have to hang the spreader from the inside of the hood.

Yeah, victor1941, tumbling seems like the best route. I don't have a tumbler though. But I will be windowing a lot of the pieces first. Don't want to cut across any plumes!

Wow you must have been reading my mind! I am in dire need of a water spreader. Thank you! Gotta figure out how to attach the whole assembly to my hood though.

I don't think they'll take the old boxes anymore - I heard someone say on here on the "postage increase" thread, wherever that is, that they're no longer accepting the old boxes. Your double boxing technique works really well though so we should all be fine. Heck, one could use a thicker box for the inner box, or a tupperware, if one could find them in the right dimensions. I wished there was a way to strap up the inner box good and tight with tape, but I don't think I could have gotten it inside the outer box with the rocks already in it or a lot of tape on it.
