Haven't read the whole thread and not going to bother, just pulled up this last page. Most excellent post, Scott, thank you. If it weren't for hunters there would be no game left in Africa, and not much in North America, either.

I think last one is banded iron ..? Find similar around glendo, it polishes awesome but is messy Love the pics !!! I need to make my way up there one of these days ....how's the fishing on that stream ?? I think you're right. That was my first thought when I saw it, but haven't had time to mess around with it yet. Have a few more similar pieces around here. Put them away so I could find them again and haven't seen them since. The fishing on that little crick is pretty decent early after runoff settles down. Nothing real special, brookies in the 7-10 inch range. Farther downstream there are a few browns in the deeper holes and some of them will run to 12 inches. There are a couple of campgrounds near there so by this time of the summer they've been hit pretty hard with every kind of lure and bait imaginable. Mid-June and #16 elk hair caddis will provide lots of entertainment. Russ

Honestly never timed it, I do the batch thing as well usually 6 or so at a time. If I get too many going it just befuddles me. Haven't been doing it for long and don't really have any idea what I'm doing but hey, water sprays all over and I make a mess. Gotta be good, right?

Thanks, folks. Have to love the wide open country. I grew up in the forested country myself, and most of my relatives are in Vermont/Northern NY. After spending most of the past nearly 36 years in CO and WY I get all claustrophobic if I have to go back there. Can't see any distance at all. Green crap covering up all the rocks. Yuck.
Tim-not sure what that rock is, to be honest. After the picture it went into the box of stuff to mess with this winter when there is more time. The area it came from is probably an ancient riverbed. Never know what you're going to find there.

The little I've fooled with it can be a little fussy. I'd throw them back in there again. But, that's my standard answer. That or throw them in the driveway.

Very nice job on those! Obsidian can be a bugger but when it comes out nice it's great.

Looking like 4-8 on Thurs., 10-8 on Friday, 10-4 on Sat. Little different but they were trying to get some evening hours in to try to attract some of the tourons.
I'm probably going to go Friday late morning or so. I know Cyndi will want to go so we'll probably end up going again on Sat. morning. Jim, give me a call if you want.
I'll be the guy in a camo ballcap with grey in my beard. Oh wait, that's about 92% of the guys there. We'll figure it out.

We find a fair amount of fossils while out messing around, that's what we were originally looking for when we got distracted by colorful shiny rocks. Did take a few pictures of some we found last weekend, though. Nothing exotic or valuable. After taking a few pictures of the fossils I turned around and took a scenery pic. The coolest thing about these marine fossils is that they are in a ledge at 9400'. Thanks for looking. Russ
