I hate don't like those things. Big and lanky tree dwellers with a nasty ass attitude. Here is why: Not one I would want to keep,m that's for sure. The only Monitors I really cared for were the Acanthurus, or Ackies. Is Frank Retes still breeding Monitors?

Nice piece of Gem bone! Beautifully done as usual! I think I would have put the bail on the pointy end for a sort of Pyramid effect. Had it been more elongated, it could have passed as an Arrowhead shape and been more "manly"

Damn you RTH'rs are a sneaky bunch. I was sitting in my recliner watching reruns of reruns and feeling generally depressed when the mailman walked up on the porch with a box. Had to holler for mama to bring it in, since I can no longer carry anything larger than a cup of coffee. Of course mama immediately accused me of buying something off of ebay. After seeing the return address on the box, I began to think something was up. Mama opened the box, and we both began to dig through the treasures. My depression quickly went away. A long time ago I learned that rockhounds are the best sort of people. But you RTH'rs are the best of the best. It hurts too much sitting in front of this computer for more than a few minutes at a time, so I will soon go and have another happy pill. But before I go, I want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness. You made this ornery old goat's day. ROCK ON. Don I am happy you had a lift out of your depression.....and a break from the reruns of reruns I bet there was some cool stuff in there!

TheRock , you mean you don't have optivisors, yet. You can't be a fancy fashionable lapidary without one. LOL! Drummond Island Rocks okay while over looking at some other stuff at HF picked me up a pair for the Lapidary shop I have about 3 other pair I use in other areas! Now I'm Fashionable Cheers ~Duke Those work in a pinch, but go ahead and drop the coin on the Optivisor brand. The lens are much better quality and they are in focus much farther away than the Harbor Freight visors. The 2X is my main pair, but I also keep a pair of 3X handy for replacing watch batteries, checking prong settings, etc.

Ahhhh. Susan hot her pendant in the mail yesterday!!!! It is awesomeness!!! It's actually bigger than it looks and is so incredible in person! I really love what Arlen has started to be known for which is a sanded flat rope around the bezel! It just gives a more shadow effect to the piece and you see more of the bezel and it's meeting points with the gemstone. Thank you brother Arlen!!! We are going to the doctor today so Susan is getting all flu flu dressy snd wearing her pendant!!! Yea!!! Does the phrase "Bill gets lucky tonite" mean as much to yall as it does to me??? Insane!!! radio LOL! and to think this was from a rock you "watered" while wandering lost in the wilderness. I'm glad she likes her new bling.

Awesome job! I do like the way you balanced it, but kept it simple so the cab is the star of the show!

Yeah, I'd say it (the internet) pretty much is (full of shit). But if that is fake, someone went to a whole heck of a lot of trouble to fake it. Looked pretty darn real to me. One of the videos I found when I Googled was of another black cat (not a good color to be, lol), carted off to an eagle's nest. Momma eagle was ripping off pieces and feeding them to her two youngsters. Methinks some things just can't be faked. Okay, so you're a skeptic. Nothing wrong with that. Yeah, nature can sometimes be kind of gross, but it is what it is. Nature plays by it's own rules, all of God's creatures have to eat. Here in Missouri the Department of Conservation has "Eagle cams" on a few nests live streamed to the internet. Just this spring Mama, or maybe Dad brought a full grown cat to the nest to feed the Eaglets. City folk and tree huggers were horrified!

Now while we are talking tools do any of you have one of these? If there is one thing I wont have to learn to do is Solder either silver braze or soft solder and as far as Welding I can do that too aluminum stainless cast iron or steel I've done it all. Many people swear I was born with a torch in my hand Being an HVAC Contractor for 35 years I guess ya get good at it. I have the tanks and regulators I just need the little kit just wondered if you guys use them? Thank Duke I have one Smith little torch setup and another generic set much like the smith. I prefer the smith over the generic simply because it is lighter and more ergonomic than the generic torch. Do get a selection of tips whichever way you go.

Yes, the Swanstroms are worth the outlay! so worth it in fact that I have two sets, one at my home bench and one at the retail shop bench. when I started 20 odd years ago, I bought Harbor freight, Craftsman and others, but most wear quickly under constant use requiring frequent replacement, are not ergonomic and are not purpose designed like Swanstroms. Cheap tools can, and will work, but if you plan on any amount of production, the better quality will make the task easier and with less swearing :-)
Benches can be made from most anything. Mine at the retail shop is a heavy duty garage workbench with a inch and 3/4 hard maple butcher block top resting on 3 inch hollow steel legs and frame. Harbor freight has some decent workbenches for $80 to $130 or so. At one time I had a dandy bench with the cutout for the benchpin and lots of drawers and such. I soon figured out I needed more flat work space and less frilly storage compartments taking up valuable work space. For tool storage, I use a mechanics roll around with lockable drawers. For silver storage, I have another roll around with taller bottom drawers to keep metals organized and locked away

super shine on that pet-oskey rock! Not easy to get a polish that good on them!
several months back, I bartered some silver work for a MFRB of decent sized ones and some of them were killer! I even sawed one lengthwise just to see how they looked that way and was pleasantly surprised!

Can I identify as two out of three? That would be a Southerner and a Republican Hornady Critical Duty in .45 ACP is my flavor of choice. Just looking at the business end of a full size 1911 will dissuade most folks from making a foolish decision!
