Again, Pat might have the name. InOhio they are gally nippers Turn on the porch light at night and they are all over the place. Kids freak out because fly right at you. Im sure it's a slang term....maybe

Crazy, but I just got some rocks at a auction in Ohio. After cleaning up the rocks one of them looks just like that. The bad part is they were not labeled very good. A tag in the bottom of the box say purple agates/Jasper. Not much help. No location or any more info on the tags. But like PAT says and I thought the same thing...a piece of pie.

WD40 might be worth a try. It removes tar, bugs along with many other things. If the red is a pigment ink, good luck. Not many solves will touch pigment ink. Since you can't rub the surface.

I just got some purple agates at a auction and they don't look like that one you have. I got some banded also and it looks way different than yours. I can only compare it to what I just got and what the tag said. Some of them were cut in half and no designs like yours. Go for it. Not much help but who knows.

This forum is great., welcome.
A tough question, that I ask here when I started. Breaking the stone makes it look natural. Cutting, works good but flat surfaces. Either way you pick is the right answer. Not what you want to hear but it's 50...,50

If we do go back for Thanksgiving, we will certainly visit a certain well loved member. Shhhh.... don't tell spiceman we wanna go see him! Shout out to Mr & Mrs fantastic5 who helped fill a box and pay postage for a box of Mrs Nethers Flint for Dale's tumbler. When I get that box of flint I'm sure I be more than happy. Thank you very much and God loves you all. I can still smile.

Very nice batch of rocks. On YouTube it shows using Hot Shuff glue (super glue) to fix some of the problems that your talking about but even that is a maybe type of fix. I have along with most of the people here have had the same problem, one time or more.. I have had good luck using "hard as nails" top coat, fixing cracks. But stuff happens no matter what you do. But, they still have a nice shine. Keep up the good work.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They look real nice now but would they look better tumbled? They can look worse tumbled, but I don't think they would. Whatever you make, I'm sure it will be the right one. If your looking for votes. By all means.... TUMBLE them bad boys. ;) you go man and have a good time. Whichever way you pick. But... Post picks if you tumble them.
I bought one about 3x that size at a auction for 5 bucks and I don't know if I want to tumble it or not. So this post will help me decide.

As far as the lid coming off. I took a plastic peanut butter jar, cut it around the bottom of the angle. Glued it on the lotto barrel with epoxy. Now I have a screw on lid for my lotto barrel. Works great.

I would guess most of the miles are highway miles. So it should be a large number but still, it's a ford. 235k

Sounds to me like it's too dangerous for you to mess with. Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly for you. (rofl) That is my thoughts exactly, about the dangers. But I'm asking the right group of people.
