Oh my! That is really spectacular. You don't see that everyday. found 3 slabs of old stock material at the Buena Vista show and bought all of them.

Do you have more of it? I have never seen an opal septarian. Me either. I do have more but will have to see what is usable, it was breaking along the white while I was doing the preform. Will have to search it closely for more fire.

Opal in a Septarian? Do you know the location? I picked up the slab at my local rock club, so no.

Turned out the white filler in this one is opal. But the flash turned up on the backside when I hit it on a 320 flat disk to smooth it up. Foiled again.

I haven't experimented a whole lot, but I use Borax and it works quite well. However, it's supposed to be quite toxic to plants, so I'm thinking switching to Ivory might be better. I've started trying Ivory for a few batches and will decide soon. I use both, the ivory in the final burnish

First one looks like a jasper, possibly bloodstone. Second one is an agatized fossil, appears to be shells similar to script stone only with the agate.

Also plan on hitting the show. Will any of our vendors have a booth?

That's a great example of some of the colors that can be found! Are you planning on going back to Teepee Canyon if you get out here this summer? I always like the outliers. Very cool agate, and you did a great job with it. Thanks Stephan! I've seen "similar" type of outlier pattern in some Crazy/Laguna Lace material. I was surprised though to see it in material from Teepee Canyon. I figured we would, though not sure where I want to try digging this time, we did not do really good last time. Looking thru the rubble actually turns up quite a few nice ones.

I am about 3 hours away, maybe I will drop in. Already knew about it from the Lincoln club.

If you can find the right spots to dig you can get some nice ones. But it can be a whole lot of work! That is a four letter word.
Probably heading your way in a couple of months.

What is the metal that is visible, I would guess pyrite but there is some Colorado turquoise with gold. c

Actually a bit surprising because with the amount of upgrades the power company was doing when I worked there I was sure there was a tax break or subsidy involved.

Interesting the used ones from that era are selling for what they cost or more.
