What an amazing tutorial. There is no end to the kindness of the people and pros on this board who share their knowledge with those of us who are just beginning new hobbies. Your website was filled with beautiful examples of your work and something for me to aspire to. Since hubby and I have only had one tumbler of polished rocks finished, we have a ways to go but something to aim for. Stunning work thank you so much for sharing and taking the time to do this.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and Glen for the picture. I will do a search for shop threads and can hopefully find some more ideas for a good setup. Love this site!

Hi everyone, I recently became interested in the amazing world of rocks and have started rock tumbling. I just finished my first week of rough tumbling and I'm surprised at the changes from rough to smooth and how quickly it happened. I'm doing the rough tumbling in a Lortone 45C and will move on to a Lortone 3-1.5B for the next steps so that each step can have a separate barrel. Hubby's going to help with the messy work (of course!). I'm tumbling a mixture of amethyst and quartz so I wasn't expecting the first peek to be so smooth. I put all back in for another week for some small detailed pits and cracks which were barely noticeable but from all that I've read here, the more patient you are the better things will turn out. I'm really curious to see how everyone sets up their rock tumbling spaces. Right now we're using some space in the garage with no clear area to keep supplies just yet. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks....
