Whoa, I never heard of it. Are they common out there?? Tela, you obviously don't watch enough nature shows, lol. Wiki says "They are diurnal mammals native to South America, Central America, Mexico, and the southwestern United States. The name "coatimundi" comes from the Tupian languages of Brazil, where it means "lone coati." "....Coatis are about 30 cm (12 in) tall at the shoulder and weigh between 2 and 8 kg (4.4 and 17.6 lb), about the size of a large house cat." "Their geographical range extends from the southwestern U.S. includes southern Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas into Mexico." Here's more from Arizona Highways: www.arizonahighways.com/classroom/coatimundisDon't think I'd see one in my desert, but they can definitely be found in the US closer to mohs . And I mean in the wild, not just at the zoo! I think we have ringtailed cats here, but they are seldom seen. Yeah, I googled it. I think I watch my fair share of animal shows.
ETA I have heard of Fisher Cats in Maine, though. Pretty evil.

Then how did you never hear of it? I like the photo of Ed's zoo coati. At first I thought the yellow colored something next to him was a piece of foam given to him for bedding. But on closer inspection, it looks more like a cereal box! Snacking.

It drives DH crazy, but I love to listen to Christmas/Holiday music this time of year- especially the old tunes.
On a personal note, I have been suffering "empty nest syndrome", so this Christmas is a little tough. Listening to these great old tunes reminds me of, not only my own childhood and the good times, but my own children and grandchildren when they were young.
DH is on the Bah Humbug train. I missed that train. I really love this time of year. Some of you know I am not Christian, but I celebrate the season regardless. I don't think you have to be Christian to understand the underlying message of Peace and Love. It is sad to me that it has become so commercialized.
So, I have some YT playlists going and then I will switch to some Holiday inet radio stations. I'll get some wrapping done (presents, not wire). My granddaughter will be home for Christmas and I look forward to that. I can't speak for everyone, but personally, I've never felt that being a Christian was a prerequisite for understanding the meaning behind Christmas. There are many Christians that don't get it!! I went looking on YouTube for a song I really like by the Kinks. Found it! And it's a great video, too. "Father Christmas, give us some money." Sad that this is how some people think of Christmas these days. I'm pretty sure the selfishness of some people at this time of year, and blatant commercialism are the reasons Christmas is no longer my favorite holiday or time of year. Without further ado, here's some Kinks for you! Saw so many different lists of Christmas songs, songs I've not thought of or heard in a coon's age! I may have to start listening to them. Like your DH, Tela, I'm sure my DH will take a pass on them, too. Will just have to listen wearing headphones.

I agree completely about Christmas.
Yeah, some of those tunes take us back. Nice to hear them sometimes.

Tela...I think I've mentioned it before, but when I was living in upstate NY, I walked out of my house late at night and heard the most blood curdling scream I've ever heard in my life. It sounded like a young child was being murdered. It was pitch black out...and that completely freaked me out. Found out later it was a Fisher Cat.
Back to Christmas music. I love listening to Christmas music...more than my wife does. I don't like hearing any of them prior to Thanksgiving though. I think this year we'll do karaoke at the inlaws and have everyone get up and sing a Christmas carol or two...
I think Bing Crosby has one of the best voices I've ever heard. His tone is so pure. This is one of my all-time favorite Christmas Carols. I like "The Little Drummer Boy" song no matter what...but this duet with David Bowie and Bing Crosby just puts a smile on my face any time I hear it or watch the video...

Some is OK, but I hate when they start playing Christmas music on the radio before Thanksgiving, then we have to listen to the same songs over and over until Christmas is over.

Michael Bublé is another singer who has a "crooner's" voice like Bing Crosby. He's also one of the few people I've seen where music seems to take over every cell in their body. Keith Urban is another person who seems to get "possessed" by music.
I'm not usually a fan of a ton of the new or contemporary Christmas songs...I'm a sucker for the "classics". But I really like Ed Sheeran...and what's not to love about Elton John!!

So we have an ongoing thing in this house- RIGHT after Thanksgiving , Tom starts to put on Holiday music.
I fight it every year, as my birthday is the week before Christmas & I've always felt that the "season" can't start until after my birthday .
BUT, in the end, year after year he always wins- and today on the way back from the craft show in Tallahassee I put the holiday jazz station on.
Sigh - it did make the 2 hour drive nicer, I have to admit.

I love Christmas music! Also prefer the older stuff or at least the mellow, jazzy, or instrumental stuff. Don’t much care for the poppy rockin around the tree stuff. Maybe just a bit during a certain activity like making cookies that louder stuff is ok but for most of the season I prefer the slower stuff. I try to get it to start here after Thanksgiving but my husband pretty much refuses and he controls the music playlist while we work. He’ll only start the Christmas music a week before and even then he mixes it in with regular music!! Ugh. I also would start the Hallmark Christmas movies right after Thanksgiving and sit and crochet all day watching those if I was independently wealthy and didn’t need to work. So, due to being thwarted by my spouse and work, I get less music and movies than I’d like but at least I don’t get too much and too tired of it.

No. It's O Holy Night. I put the wrong link in there. It's this one, but she doesn't start singing until about 2:30 into the video. She's amazing, though. Here's the correct link. www.foxnews.com/video/6316478481112

I listen to it a lot.
I'm not crazy about the modern stuff, either. But, I do LOVE this:

OK, here's my absolutely favorite very unconventional Christmas song.
I think Tom and I both can't help singing the chorus .
Santa Claus -Do You Ever Come To The Ghetto By Carlene Davis

Technically this is not a Christmas song and it's a bit melancholy but I was reminded as they played it several times yesterday at the Craft Show along with all of the Holiday music. My favorite from a very special person.
This one played pretty close behind it one of new favorites here around the house;
