khara I get the anger. I feel it too and it's really hard to express the flood of feelings. I went to AZ in 2016 to see my mom immediately after she had her bladder removed due to cancer, and to help her. I posted a short message, basically that I would be around Phoenix and did anyone want to hang out, Ed sent a pm saying he would like to. One day when I had all day free from the appointments and work on her house I drove down, met him, and got a Phoenix/Superstitions tour and history lesson up to Tortilla Flats and a fine Mexican dinner at one of his favorite places. He messaged at least daily checking in on me until I was safely home, and we continued our conversations by PM. We messaged and emailed pretty regularly and when it was time to move to AZ he offered his help. We spent a day exploring Papago Park and learning about Whataburger while we were in the house buying process, then he and beefjello Brian put together a welcome to AZ party for us. Once we had purchased the house he came out several times to help us unpack and have rocking heart tutorials, he brought us a little charcoal grill and would stay a couple nights at a time in the vintage trailer that was hooked up on the property.
Since our property has a manufactured "main house" and a small casita on it, and knowing his living situation at Toms, Elizabeth and I were thinking about offering him the casita as a rental to get away from it. I brought it up with him and he was receptive but reticent, so since at the time we were about 90% without electricity we just let it be until that was finished.
Then came ED and Lee's road trip...
He returned to WA with me in the big box van to empty the storage. We took the scenic drive up US 95 and down the Columbia gorge, places he had never been, so I could be tour guide this time. Unfortunately Covid was still a thing so the places I would have loved to show him were closed. He met my kids of course, and then we were headed south. I could blame covid, but it seems like the trip back was a little less fun, and conflict brewed a bit. After we got back and accepted the thanks from both of us, he left immediately, and never came out again. The friendly responses on the board and occasional pictorial email continued, but my invitations to visit weren't accepted.
When I started the PT job that takes me to the airport I rolled by a few times, his window/door was closed and car not there.
And now this...
yeah, lots of regrets.
I'm sorry.
