Howdy folks, Man, in these difficult times with the economy going to hell and the oil spill etc, it really does me good to see our fearless leader hard at work (NOT!) These are just a few of the things he has prioritized and accomplished just during the short period of the first few weeks of the spill:
Rose garden Earth Day reception ( Earth Day, that's a good one) Hiking in North Carolina Biltmore Hotel gourmet dinners and resort visits Yankees hosted at the Whitehouse Multiple Fund raisers for douchebags like Barbara Boxer A fun meeting and comedy routine with Jay Leno Hosting Navy football team Cinco De Mayo party at Whitehouse Flies to Buffalo, NY for hotwings Hosts U Conn women's basketball team State dinner and dancing for that ahole from Mexico, Calderon Meeting with Bono Basketball discussion with Marv Albert Asian and Jewish American celebrations Party with the Getty Oil family Meeting with Ahhhnold S. of California ( AKA Greece in America) Blue devils hosting Chicago vacation with basketball and BBQ Fun night with Sir Paul Mc Cartney to engage in general celeb butt kissing and Bush bashing.
This is an very abbreviated list and with all this hard work, he still found time to play golf seven times and fill our TV screen with his BS teleprompted speeches. Wow! Impressive budgeting of time indeed!.....Mel

Tony: Nah, I know some folks think Obama can communicate directly with Heaven but it was Bono the U2 singer. Maybe I misspelled his name. I don't follow his music because i don't like his politics *L*....Mel

Maybe he should just buy a ranch.
The presidential vacation-time record holder is the late Ronald Reagan, who tallied 436 days in his two terms. At 418 days, and with 17 months to go in his presidency, Bush is going to beat that easily.
Even so, this year's August vacation for Bush is a contrast to previous years such as 2005, when he dragged out vacation in Texas to five weeks. That was also the year Bush remained on vacation immediately after Hurricane Katrina hit.
. . . today's trip marks Mr. Bush's 149th visit to the presidential retreat. The planned three-day stay, during which the president is being joined by family and former and current aides, will bring his total time spent at Camp David to all or part of 487 days.
Yes, that's 487 days. And Camp David is not even where the president has spent the most time when not at the White House: Knoller reports that Mr. Bush has made 77 visits to his ranch in Crawford during his presidency, and spent all or part of 490 days there.
It’s not like there was a war goin’ on or anything, eh? That ended after Mission Accomplished, right?

Hey, never said Bush or Reagan were any better, even though I did really like Reagan. Just that this current doofus promised change and has turned out to be change all right, change for the worse. And his actions have lots to do with continuing and worsening the current implosion. Oh and give Obama time to show us how great he is. He's accomplished a lot of good screwing up in only a year and a half or so and hopefully, he won't have the eight years Bush and Reagan did to run up that total vacation day column....Mel

Barack Obama has played golf 32 times since he took office, eight more than his predecessor George W. Bush - who was mocked by the Left for his fondness for the game - did in his entire presidency. And that count was as of April 19.
Just goes to show that stats can be used to make most any point.
Gotta wonder if we will ever have a president (and their supporters) that points forward, not backwards.

I love this thread.
An observation and a question:
BEING PRESIDENT SHOULD BE FUN, RIGHT? observation
"Barack Obama has played golf 32 times since he took office, eight more than his predecessor George W. Bush - who was mocked by The Left for his fondness for the game - did in his entire presidency. And that count was as of April 19"
ARE YOU SAYING BUSH WASN'T MUCH OF A STROKER? question

Rich, Yep the financial future does indeed look dizzying. I think we're all in for a very bumpy ride!. I even made a call to check on my pension today as mine is a government pension and therefore not insured . Looks OK so far but the state and city pensions from PERS in California are not looking good at all. Scary stuff if you're retired!.
Susan: Nope, not, I suspect, fun at all if you're serous about your job and a public servant rather than a narcissist and I think it was Clinton who was always stroking stuff ...Mel

I have no doubt that Obama is a much better stroker than Bush, at least in a verbal sense...

Obama promised us change we can believe in. He should have completed that promise with, the change we can believe in, is the change left in our pockets after he and his administration tax us to death. Now he wants a "Gulf Tax", to pay for BP's screw up, and a tax on our TV's and I-Pods to pay for a government takeover of the media. Change my ass. Impeach the bastard. Don

Ah . . . perception vs. reality.
Lemme compare [my] 2008 income tax vs. 2009 income tax.
Well I’ll be dipped. Effective income tax rate was reduced by 14.97% in 2009.
I got more change in my pockets. YMMV ;D

Yes, but that tax cut was put into effect by the Bush administration. Lets see what happens over the next few years, shall we ? Oh, and just to set it straight, I vote an independent ticket. I was a Democrat until old Billie Bob Clinton ran the first time. Couldn't vote for a draft dodger, and didn't feel I could vote for the Republican either. Perot got my vote that time.

Yeah, I thought that was the the Bush tax cut too but I may be wrong. ( nope checked and 2010 is the last year of the Bush cut. Can't thank Obama for that one, Rich!) It's true a family could make a couple of thousand more in 2009 than in 2008 without going into the next higher bracket. I must've been right on the cusp because unlike Rich, I somehow managed to have to pay a couple of thousand more than usual *sad sigh*....Mel

Tax rates are unchanged since 2003. Tax reduction in 2009 due to either bracket creep or Feb ’10 stimulus package.
Federal, state and local income taxes consumed 9.2% of all personal income in 2009, the lowest rate since 1950, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports.
People (that would be the left, the right, and any other flavor) want more than they are willing to pay for, and they will always whine like a stuck pig about taxes.

This " other flavor " doesn't mind paying taxes. Just not to bail out people and businesses that through their own wrong doing have gotten themselves into trouble. Let them fail on their own dime, not mine. I also object to paying taxes to king Obama and his court, so they can turn this country into the U.S.S.A., ( United Socialist States of America ). I spent 20 years of my life fighting communism and socialism. I'll be damned if I'll sit quietly in my recliner like a good little subject, and watch Obama and his socialist buddies change this country.

Best one was goin' to war and not even having to pay for it. Cool. No wonder my taxes went down last year.
