We do our dishes by hand. We have a dishwasher that is an oldie "harvest gold" vintage 1975. I only use it for sterilizing canning jars. We are on a tight budget, so it saves a lot on electricity and gas, besides, it seems one needs to hand wash the dishes before or they don't come clean in the washer anyway.

Most things are washed in the dishwasher. The pots and pans are done by hand. Happy washing------James

Small amounts by hand, large amount by dishwasher. We only eat one main meal per day though. I hate doing dishes so use lots and lots of paper plates and we eat dinners out a lot.....Mel

Both. What can go in the dishwasher, goes in the dishwasher. What has to be hand washed is hand washed. On Friday's we have potlucks at our house with friends from church so then we pull out the "fine china" a.k.a. paper plates, plastic ware, etc.

We have a dishwasher, and use it for most things. A few selective dishes I will wash by hand, because like Grayfingers says, they come cleaner that way anyway.

Both - and if anyone needs a portable dishwasher for washing slabs - I got one cheap LOL. Taking up space in the garage. I agree with GR - What peaks your curiosity?

By hand. We store infrequently used cooking gear in the dishwasher till we remodel and replace it with additional cupboard space.

The oldest dishwasher left home, the younger dishwasher now works full time so feels that dish washing is no longer a priority!
So 'we' now do the dishes by hand. Once the younger dish washer has left home as well, we may invest in an electric dish washer.
With hands in a sink of suds.

Funny you should ask. I just noticed a leak in the basement ceiling I live in an old house built in 1896 so I assumed that it must be a plumbing issue. I called the plumber who put a video scope under the dishwasher and said it was not a plumbing issue but a bad pump on the dishwasher. Now I am out $125.00 for a service call and still no dishwasher. The model dishwasher was only $350. when purchased new less than 2 years ago and I was reluctant to repaire it as I was getting phone estimates of over $200 plus parts to fix it. Well I found a guy who was cheaper and he came over with a new pump. Before he installed it he disconnected the drain pipe from the washer and let the washer drain into a bucket the pump was draining. He did this to clear any air pocket that might have caused it not to drain. End of story fixed for a $50. service call (honest guy). I called the plumber a very well resoected guy in town refund of service call sent out (honest guy)
Now to the question sorry about that I do disheds in a unique way. Crusted on food gets licked off by Romulous and Pietra They have the big tongues. Simone and Sebastien do sauce and gravy (small togues) Than they that is the dishes go into the dishwasher and everyone is happy. Stu

Dishwasher except those that are too big to fit in it. HOORAY! for paper plates and bowls!! I use a tray of cat litter (hopefully not visited by the cats) to remove all the oil from my slabs. I never have to wash the slab that way. I don't mind doing dishes for my wife. When I grew up there was only my brother and me to do the dishes - no sisters. Dishes was one of our chores around the house and farm. Bob
