I have passed it on to six others. We really need to get this done. I try to buy American which means staying out of Wally World but the extra I pay does not amount to very much. Jim

Helen won't understand. Better take her by the hand and explain it one step at a time.

Wrong. As usual the rich are one step ahead. It's called technology. Jobs are coming back........and robots are doing them. A factory that hired 500 can now run on 30. And think about 3D printers for awhile.
Not only has it been destroyed.........now it's an entire new game. Example........all the people wanting $15hr at fast food. CEO's response: First thing we're going to do is fire all the cashiers and install touch order screens. Oh and btw.......some fast food joints are fully automated now. NO ONE works there.
There's either conspiracies going on which I don't care to get into or it's just the greed thing in which who cares who's going to buy stuff as long as we make our money now. Total race to the bottom. It's either going to bring about a completely different system and way of doing things or mass destruction take your pick.
I personally don't there is a fix to it without outlawing technology etc and that's not going to happen. Things are changing and they're never going to be the same.
Don't get me wrong I would like for that to all work but from what i've been researching things are sure pointing in a completely different direction. Hell.........were you aware they are building a robot to replace crop pickers?? And fully automated 18 wheelers?? Won't ever happen? Do you really think they're spending gazillions building them and testing them so that it won't? I'm starting to see why in Star Trek they don't use money. Who needs it when you can just push a button. And you know how crazy crap in sci-fi has a habit of becoming reality.

fortunately for us Jamesp, Rob, Lee and Herchenx can work on those robots in various capacities. Otherwise we'd all be out of work. Prediction: Fast Food is next. No servers at counters of fast food. Just a single "shift manager", and cute "retail robots" taking orders using voice recognition and careful programming. McDonalds cannot do it politically. But someone (not me) can, if they (I) put the money together. Increased profits will make me (or someone) very competitive with the ff giants. : Predicted. robsrockshopwhgattaya think about that concept?

Who will have the money to buy their products? As for the trucks, they would never work here. Robots on ice yeehaa!! 18 wheel suicide bombers, computers have been known to be hacked! In my truck the most repairs I have done are computer related.

The other half of this is to STOP REWARDING companies who move the jobs overseas. This forces those who do not to compete by doing the same thing. Bring Jobs Back to America was shot down by the Republican Congress, and all it did was to give the current tax breaks FROM those who shipped jobs overseas to those HIRING here.
Vote to STOP tax breaks for those who do, and throw out the Republicans who keep voting for the subsidies and GMO's to get tax breaks and subsidies.

I don't think they care if it destroys itself. They'll be filthy rich. That's the next generations problem to deal with. He who dies with the most toys wins.

Finally. You guys are understanding the Democrat platform. FINALLY. Not sure how you plan on stopping technology? Even top economists can't figure out why all their numbers are skewed and have no clue it's tech. I'm not saying I like all this but it certainly looks like a losing battle. I think it would be better if we spent our time trying to learn to cope with the inevitably but so far I don't seem to have the brainpower to come up with much for now. As it stands now i'm already 2/3rds dead and plan on just plucking away as long as I can doing what I know how. I think i'd be happier if I were to put filters on my PC and only allow buy and resell and lapidary activities and just totally remove myself from crazy town because there's no stopping it. And no, it's not better to complain than to actually at least try to do something. I just think it's all a futile effort is all and i'd rather adapt than spend the next 20-25 years fighting it all the way. Not that i'm a quitter I just know an impossible task when I see one. Maybe the wrong attitude but everyone has an opinion.

Being acclimated and able to function in someone elses society is a good survival skill, nothing wrong with that. Rather than fight the new ways, I say just do your part to make sure the old ways don't die, we may need a few of those antiquated skills again one day. Blocking some posts doesn't stop them from showing up in quotes, thanks folks for reminding me of the idiocy that convinced me to do it in the first place.

Bring our jobs back! We will take robots too. They create a crap load of work along w/tooling changes associated w/them.
Just stop letting overseas people do our stuff. We are getting dumber and poorer .
Fire the EPA for 5 years. Tax the stuff coming in to the max. Get rid of regulation and insurance for 5 years. Let resources be extracted. Get rid of stupid building codes and get some open minded ones. Get rid of Obama so that we have other than an academic at the helm. Make industrial and medical lawyers go on vacation for 5 years. Let people do dangerous stuff.

Pessimism will get you, where? It is just like the druggies, they want everyone else to try it and suck them down too. Jim

Unmanned Lockheed Martin F-16 Jet Flies at Mach 1.47, to be Used in Live Fire Tests www.dailytech.com/Unmanned+Lockheed+Martin+F16+Jet+Flies+at+Mach+147+to+be+Used+in+Live+Fire+Tests/article33441.htmBoeing and the U.S. Air Force recently tested an empty Lockheed Martin F-16 for the first time. The F-16, which sat in Arizona for 15 years doing nothing prior to this flight, was used as an unmanned practice target for firing. It was the first time one of these jets had flown without a pilot onboard. The jet -- controlled by two U.S. Air Force pilots from the ground -- flew at 40,000 feet and at a speed of Mach 1.47. The test flight achieved 7Gs of acceleration, but was capable of performing maneuvers at 9Gs. In addition, the F-16 had a few tricks up its sleeve, like a barrel roll and a "split S," which is where the aircraft turns upside down right before making a half loop and flies the right-way-up in the opposite direction. The Chinese maybe able to make robots. But you folks still rule the skies. Gives a new meaning to no boots in the air.

And we probably spent a billion on it before it was parked because they made too many. I wonder how many were actually used in combat. The military can waste money with the best of them. Jim
