I think I'll just quite and throw all my stuff in the garbage. I cannot believe I will ever make shine like that.
The AAA lapis looks too nice. So nice, if it wasn't you, I'd call it a fake. Wow!

Thanks everyone! @shotgunner I know what you mean! This material was a dream! The back side only was quite full of pyrite but the entire slab was void of those pesky white calcite? lines. The rest I have isn't quite as nice but I might still be able to get a couple small high grade cabs from it. The first couple cabs I did from this slab were tiny and I had to dop them. I used nails and super glue and an overnight soak in acetone to get the nails off. I already knew the material was natural but it was so awesome being able to see clear liquid in the morning and wiping the stone off with a paper towel with no color coming off. I haven't worked too much Lapis but am very curious.... if you have a fake piece of lapis..... will it disintegrate in acetone? I posted these before but, here were the other three I got from this slab! And the rest I have left, face polished See the huge pyrite deposit through the middle?

I do not think it is possible to get a better shine then that. Both are beautifully done. I keep going back to look at your side views and I am intrigued by it. I don't think I could do that without a hard line stop point for my dome/girdle.

Krystee, All of those are amazing, and that deep clean blue is awesome. I am probably one of the only weirdos that thinks this way, but I happen to find the lapis with the pyrite band equally appealing. You seem to have a reasonable size piece remaining. I would love to see one slice taken sideways, with a few cabs made that show the band of pyrite running through the middle of the cab....... That chunk must have cost you, but those cabs could easily recoup that cost and leave you a good amount to continue to work with. Good quality blue lapis isn't getting any cheaper.
Thank you for sharing those.

Beautiful as always. I had the same thought as rolanstones, that it might look nice with the Pyrite running through the cab. And with that deep blue could be very interesting.

Girl, you are incredible!!! No one can shine like you Question- Was that Pyroxmangite anyhting like rhodonite? I could swear I had some years back- before I cabbed- I bought it as rhodonite, but it looks exactly like yours- even with that orange bit.

It is a type of gemmy Rhodonite with translucency from Australia. Pyroxmangite

That lapis is freaking incredible ~K! I've never worked any but know it to be a difficult stone to get a superior shine --which you went beyond-- I won't get within 100 million miles of that gloss unless I come to your house & bribe you to show me the technique I'm on my way mostly
