This turned out to be a much needed batch of rocks for me. I have been in a bit of a rut lately and this batch had some real cool stuff to re-spark some interest. whole batch Lake Superior agates Pudding stones rocky butte jasper, green tree agate, graveyard point plume agate and a cool seam agate Montana agates mixed quartz This is one of the most flawless pieces of quartz I have ever had in a batch and hard to believe it tumbled with lakers and flint random cool rock Ohio Flint And here's the exiting one. This one gets three pictures and thats still not enough to show how cool it is in person. To make it even better this from our self collected Ohio flint ridge material. look close. theres all kinds of stuff inside including what appears to be a twig right near the middle. Thanks for looking Chuck

What an interesting and diverse mix. Nice shine on them, as always. That flawless quartz is something else!
Hope this did the trick to rekindle your interest.

Really cool rocks and an awesome shine. Those lakers are extra shiny! That Flint Ridge rock is really weird (in a good way!).

Wow Chuck, that is a huge variety to have in the same tumble. And they came out fantastic. That last one is fascinating to me. Looks like someone froze some frog-pond water on top. A micro world in itself. Any chance you could find another one?
Great stuff. Thanks!
<To make it even better this from our self collected lint ridge material> Would this be in the laundry room or more near the navel?

thanks mark- The variety was risky on this one but I only lost 3 small pieces of quartz due to breakage. This was a full 4 pounds of rock and no ceramics. I wish I could have roughed that last one further but when I seen the stuff inside I didnt want to keep removing material and risk losing it.
If you only found that one typo then I guess my typing is really improving.

Nice rutilated quartz and I really like the flint & random cool rock. That last one reminds me of the mini terrariums I used to make

A small city tumbled, the last one. As Karen says a terrarium. There is polish and then there is polish. Well done Chuck. And crystalline quartzes to boot.
The montanas actually took the show for me.
And the Lake Superiors

The fintridge is an embryo of ...well, a lot of things. It is a wild one and your photography shows it well.

Thanks everyone The fintridge is an embryo of ...well, a lot of things. It is a wild one and your photography shows it well. James- It was a bugger to try to show the insides but it really is the most interesting rock I have ever tumbled. I actually described it as an embryo when I first seen it too. Chuck

I am worried for you if your mind went parallel to mine(d). I have gotten where i will extract little honey holes out of a big chunk. One great stone is better than 10 average stones. To me. I did bring home several 10 pound chunks that had a couple of onces i had to 'surgically' remove. To get the best or a special pocket. The most productive day of my last 20 days on the coral rivers was when i brought a folding chair and set it up on a gravel bar and found coral heads up to 100pounds within a 100 foot circle and sat in the chair and patiently and methodically spalled the best out of those chunks. Probably 30 % was taken home but was 98 percent material to please any tumbler or knapper person. As if you sat in that flint ridge hole and spalled out the best. I have to tell you that the coral spalls as perfectly as about anything. I am learning this from the knapper people too. A one pound spall of what i can get all day is $4 cooked. I showed knappers at a 'knap in ' last weekend. And got the the info straight from them. Gave out 30 pounds of my best. For info. The flint ridge was top material. A famous miner of flintridge was discussed. They showed me the best of the best of flint ridge. The miner guy's best select. Wow. But they said the sacrifice for beauty is a few fractures. World famous stuff. I did 200 pounds in 3 hours.....on the river.

I was looking at that random cool rock again. It looks like it might be a stromatolite, perhaps "Mary Ellen," nice gem.
