I rum between W and Q quite a few times every time I am down there. Just to put my stuff I find in the storage shed I rent.

After work tomorrow, about 1500 I will be heading down the road towards AZ. I will see some of you in about a week. Maybe less. I will try to let you know how my progress is going if I can.

I was planning on taking the day off from work to go tomorrow, but now it looks likely for some rain Thursday and even more likely on Friday. Coming from San Diego, I'm not sure if the 4 1/2 hours on the road each way is a good plan for Thursday if everyone is closed down.
Does anyone know what the vendors at the Pow Wow do when it rains? I know at other shows most of them will hunker down and take the day off. Is the Pow Wow any different, especially for those with rough and slabs? The sky water makes the rock easier to see, but no sun kills the colors...
Feedback really appreciated!
Thanks
Craig

I know as far as Desert Gardens goes, lots of people stay open. Most everybody has tents up to help stay out of the rain.

Go eat at Sweet Darleens it's a great breakfsst. The sausage gravy is wonderful. Tell her the one legged cowboy sent you. It's on the first Quartzsite exit as you come from Phoenix. A metal building inside a chain link fence. Her homemade pies r to die for!!!

I googled Darlenes, close enough to the PowWow site to leave the vehicle there and hoof it to the restaurant so we get a decent parking spot at the PowWow, might rain a little but we're from the NW so it's business as usual. Now to search the emails to figure out where we're staying in Blythe. We will probably be there sevenish.

Will wear the grayish RTH tee and a blue Seahawks ball cap, black bomber jacket if it rains.

How much time should I plan for to take in the rocks at desert gardens? Trying to plan a trip with Quartzsite as one of the stops.

How much time should I plan for to take in the rocks at desert gardens? Trying to plan a trip with Quartzsite as one of the stops. You could easily spend an entire day at Desert Gardens, or several days, depending on if you wanted to see everything. At the very least, you'll want to take a few hours just to walk around and see the various setups, even if you only browse 1/5 of them.

Jeff, I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to see that Thulite rough that you pictured on Facebook. There were some other pictures of rough that look pretty interesting too. I am also hoping to see some of your pietersite rough. Got a long shopping list and will be looking for some deals on some quality rough just like you have sold me in the past.

Hi all
Just returned from my day at the Pow Wow. Spent 6 hours picking through the "rough and slabs vendors" piles and bins of material. Had a great time. That being said, when it started to rain a little about noon, more than half of the show pulled out the tarps and shut down. Pretty disappointing considering how little it rained today. Tomorrow expected to be much worse. If they had all been open I would have needed another day maybe.
Desert gardens looked about like it did 2 weeks ago but hardly any customers. One vendor called it "Deserted Gardens". I think there was still plenty to look at and should take a couple hours at least. Again, many vendors not open today.

I am thinking about heading down sometime this weekend and bringing some turquoise, red selenite, etc. down to barter with.
