Just stick a board by you so he can get up the ramp. You two need to be together. LOL. My wife went out and bought one of those fancy sets of dog steps. He refuses to try them. Hmm, maybe just a low stool for him to get up on beside your chair? But, hey, a scratch behind the ear is good...kinda wish I had one.<grin>

WOO HOO. Just found a medium FRB box marked slabs 2011. Maybe I can't cab them anymore, but it's still fun looking.

Like Christmas in late June! Eye candy to enjoy, Don!
Also something similar to rough tumbling rocks for months and months, not doing cleanouts, just adding grit every few days and adjusting the slurry thickness. By the time the few you take out and examine each time look like they are ready to move on, you've pretty much forgotten what the rest of the batch is, lol. A Surprise, yeah, that's the ticket!!
(so don't ask me about them again, jamesp... )

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. My little buddy Jake is on his way out. Little guy barely has the strength to stand. Nothing to do but sit with him and wait. It's breaking my heart seeing him like this. But if there really is a God, I know that we'll be together again soon, hunting that big rock pile in the sky.
Don't know when I'll be back on line again. After Jake is gone, there are arrangements to be made for his cremation. His ashes will be buried with me.

Don, I'm so sorry. I bet he hangs in with you for awhile longer so you won't be apart for too long. This is really sad news. Hang in there. We'll all be thinking of you both.

After Jake is gone, there are arrangements to be made for his cremation. His ashes will be buried with me. Don There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again. There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group! You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and hug him. He licks and kisses your face again and again - and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.

Thanks all for your kind words.
Cliff, I'm gonna copy and laminate your poem. It will go in my box with Jake and me. I've been looking online for a suitable urn for Jake's ashes. He'll be at my left hip, his favorite place in my recliner, and that poem will be attached to the side of my box for all to read before I go underground.
As if things weren't bad enough today, my wife got a call from the hospice where her mother is being taken care of. They say it's only a matter of time before her mother passes. So I'm on watch at home with my little buddy, and my wife is on bedside watch with her mother.

Rainbow Bridge has made many people feel better for many years Don. Comforted me when I lost precious loved ones around me both furred and fleshed. I have a pile of loved babies waiting for me at the bridge as I am sure many of us have. The wife will be sitting there with big German SHepards, a whole bunch of mutts, a herd of cats, a bunch of horses , ducks, and a mean old goose named Solavena. She would look up at me and say in her most gentle of words, "Where the Hell have you been".

MIL passed at 9:20 this evening, and I expect Jake to pass tonight. Poor guy can no longer stand up, and his breathing is very shallow. Gonna be a sad next few days around the house.

Sorry Don. This must be hard, no doubt. Keep Jake close and comfort your wife. She has another loss coming when you will be reunited with your little buddy. Please keep us up to date, the prayers can't hurt. ((Hugs))

Happy to report that after a night of puking and peeing all over the hall carpet, Jake is feeling somewhat better today. Every day, hour and minute I can have with my little buddy, I count as a blessing.
Thanks to all for the prayers and kind words.
Wife is holding up much better at the loss of her mother than I thought she would. I suspect it will hit her after the funeral on Friday.
