One more time; The haul. Larger Nodules, most I collected were 1 to 3 inch, these were some of the few larger ones; The Blue color on some of the agates was really nice, some of those had black plume in the blue this was the biggest;

Looks like a great haul of agates there. What are they and where are they from? Guessing about 400 pounds worth.

Those are nice. Hope you didn't have to haul them too far!

80% of the 450 pounds came from 3 different areas on the Singleton Ranch 20 miles south of Marfa. There's Bouquet and black Plume along with the banded and blue. Very prolific area. It's actually about 1/2 mile from the very first place I ever picked agates 40 plus years ago with my brother. There were some white slopes that are unique to where we were and I remember them vividly. It's funny how things in life work out.
I have more pictures, I just need a rest before posting more!!

The best Blue nodules were about 3/4 of a mile from the vehicle, fortunately this area was fairly flat with gentle slope away from vehicle. The old rule that the further you walk, the better the rock seems to hold true for this area. I really wanted to go another mile. Maybe next time.

The Blue was was really nice, I can see spots of Black plume on the edges of some of them. Anxious to cut a few to see the Plume with the blue background, should be nice.
Now if I could just take better pictures and show everyone.

You know close up photos are my nemesis! along with posting pictures, and I suppose taking them. heck just anything to do with pictures!!
The good news is Jeremy picked up some real nice material from the Singleton Ranch and his pictures are always excellent.

I found that Blue and other smaller ones in a swale about 1/2 mile from the truck. The Blue was more plentiful in that area and I should be able to find it when I go back hopefully in the Fall.

You went collecting rocks for a week and brought home 450 pounds and we get 3 pictures?
Did I miss another trip report thread somewhere?

Now we're talkin'! Very cool. That area looks more desolate than even Falcon Lake is.
What are all those botryoidal rocks?
