What time are we meeting? We are staying at Garland Hotel in New Concord, probably about 25 or 30 minute drive. Also what tools will be needed? Planning to bring sledge hammer and shovel and small rock chisel, plus buckets. Les I am bringing a couple of sizes of shovels, a variety of hammers and chisels, crowbar, some type of whisk, and buckets. Given the nature of flint and the way it chips I would highly recommend that everyone wears safety glasses with side shields. Gloves would also be a good idea. If you have sensitive ears, hearing protection also. A chair to watch everyone else work. Maybe I should grab a bullhorn? Lots of water and meals/snacks. I will also make sure to throw a first aid kit in my vehicle.

When you start throwing tools and cooler fodder together, it starts to feel like it's road trip time. Look forward to seeing all those that can attend.

What Larry said - Have fun, capture and bring home loads of great material, but MOST important, take lots of photos to share with us home bodies. Randy Garage Rocker , I have faith in you to fulfill the last request. Some others of you, eh, not so much. Y'all be safe and enjoy.

Jean, I may or may not get the greatest flint, but I will get photos. Since I am a tumble guy, I will probably be content surface collecting the material discarded by the knappers and cabbers. Even with a slight reprieve from the worst of our summer heat and humidity, I don't relish the idea of getting in a pit and breaking rock.

Looking forward to any and all photos you wish to share with us. Glad your temp/humidity is giving you a slight reprieve. Nothing worse than sweating in a dusty pit breaking up rocks!
The temperature here the last few days was very nice, but will be a little warmer today, and then baking on Friday. 105 degrees! And with increasing humidity on Saturday and Sunday. No fun!
I will be with you guys in spirit. Have a great time! Jean

It's 90 today, with 60% humidity. Heat index at 98. On Saturday, they are predicting temps in the 80's and lower humidity. That little bit of difference will help.

Did a little scouting today. Large flag flying makes the house easy to see. I will be a little early tomorrow and driving a dark blue jeep Cherokee with a large roof rack.
