John Perry sculpture in brass for $3.00 Someone glued rocks to it and it may decrease value. Although I'm thinking they are happy staying with me

Great find.
Most likely they used hot glue to put the rocks on. So you may be able to remove them with gentle heat.

Thrift stores are like rock hounding. Full of treasures if you put in the time! I get the biggest kick out if finding the diamonds in the rough at junk shops and flee markets.

We have a huge thrift store here called The White Elephant. It’s about the size of a grocery store. Open six days a week from 9 to noon. Every morning there is a line to get in that looks like the line up for Black Friday. What amazes us is that we lose about half of our population during the summer months, but the line persists. I think there are a lot of treasure hunters. I’ve been a few times and found a some good stuff. Indeed like rockhounding, never know what you’ll find.

When I was actively selling we would have to get up super early to be in lines for the bigger thrift stores when they unloaded the trucks & or hit the estate sales Most of the others in line were also re-sellers. You learn to move fast and learn how to research an item really fast.

We have a newer 'store' that just opened up in the Chattanooga area. North Georgia Wholesale LiquidatorsI think they are an Amazon returns liquidator. They get pallet loads of merchandise and they just dump the items into bins. Saturday and Sundays they put out 20 new bins each day. Every item is $5. They are closed on Monday. Tuesday every item left in the bins is $3. Wednesday $1, Thursday $0.50. Friday they are closed to the public and they dump anything remaining in the dumpster and everything starts again on Saturday. We have found items that retail for well over $50 in those bins. But you have to put in the time, open boxes, fight the crowds on Saturday and Sunday. I kinda like Tuesdays the best. Not crowded and still some goodies to be found. My best friend found a solid stainless ultrasonic cleaner on one of the $5 days. I found a felt jewelry sales display case for 24 necklaces on a $1 day. They will also sell the huge unbundled pallets starting at $250, but that just seems like too much of a hassle. You don't know whats inside each box and you can only see some of the packages.

The store is 34,000 sq ft. This year they returned $1,765,000 to various entities in the community such as the school systems, community arts, fire departments, and more.

You may have already said this but how do you know it's a John Perry (whoever that is haha). Reason I'm asking is my dad left behind a similar thing with the brass dolphin. We all hate it and can't wait to throw it away but if it's worth something then we might like it a little bit more lol

They are almost always mounted on Manzanita I've always wanted one so I am not in a hurry to let it go

If its super glue it will release with heat as well as hot glue. I dop with superglue and it only takes a bit of heat to get stones to release from the nail. Just go slow and when it feels warm to the touch, apply a bit of pressure.
