great shine on these! This picture shows them dry- couldn't get them round but they started to get so small I took them to polish before they ground away 7 days 60-90 1 day each 120, 500, 1000, 1500 with .5 tsp of appropriate grit and 1 tbsp borax

Congrats man, fantastic rocks! Great shine. I'm getting a hankering to try some tears. I got a similar shine on my snowflake obsidian but I didn't photograph NEAR as beautifully as you did. Nice work.

Those are great! I love a shiny batch of Apache tears, it doesn't get any better for that mirror look. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like you got nice results using much less time per stage then the typical obsidian recipe's.

Thank you everyone! If anyone has tips on getting these round I’m all ears! (Eyes) Drummond Island Rocks what’s the typical recipe? I did Lower than I usually do as they were losing so much mass. The only thing I did normally was burnish them

I can tell by the silver sheen in your pics that you nailed the shine. Very nice. Two thumbs up!
As to getting them more rounded my first thought would be use 80 grit or even 120/220 for the coarse grind. They will both round obsidian & tears but remove less material.

Like your recipe. Like the results.
Lot-O ? Type media ? Percent media ?

Like your recipe. Like the results. Lot-O ? Type media ? Percent media ? Rotary for course and then yes! Lot-0 I used about 50% ceramics in the lot o with them. Didn’t use anything in the course stage

Didn’t think of starting off with 120 but it makes sense to try that

Not to mention fast rotary grinds for shaping. Because of the fast results glass and obsidian has become a pleasant short tumble. And motivated me to invest in the equipment to melt my own glass for tumbling. I tumbled agates for years and got burned out on 2-3 month cycle times. Taking a break doing glass.
