I know we tumble rocks - and Ive now got 9lb on of 12lb of pet wood that Krazzzzy D sent me. Im glad to be rolling again - havent done it for a while.
But I have to say - that guitar of Ed's is also some serious craftmanship.
Nice Ed.
I want two - pls read Pms for my enquiry on the cost (as I aint rich or anything).
On another note, I was talking to my wifes brother yesterday in wales.
I said (chuffed to bits)
"I just recieved about 12lb of petrified wood from the US, great stuff - massive box through the post from a lady on the internet who is a member of the message board I set up."
(me Gleaming and Beaming!)
He says.
Why was it petrified? Scared of flying or something?
Some people just dont get it do they?
LOL.
Thanks KD - your tea is on its way.
Mark.

The Electricals got him. Even someone from either Wales, or Canada will know what petrified wood is. The Electricals got him! I warned everyone, the Electricals. They are even disguising the comet that is going to fracture the plates in the pacific and make insects the dominant life form. It is the Electricals, those daggoned sorry sparks!

I expect I'll get the lot into one 3LB barrel once the 80 has done the business. Yes - all is smooth and Im glad to be rolling again. Did the 3-in-1 oil on the nylon bearings, cleaned out the inner lids, screwed down the tumblers as they tend to walk - oh yes - all is smooth indeeeeeedy. Mark

Watch the 3N1 oil on the bearings. It has a tendancy to dry out the bushings and promote wear. Lithium grease is much better. Petrified wood to me is the grail! Long ago, I was a shipwright, today, I am an amateur boat butcher. Epoxy is a wonder tool to me. With the petrified wood, and either CA, or epoxy, some really amazing mosiac cabochons can be made! I have made intarsia cabochons with opal inset using petrified wood. With the grain correctly oriented and the opal center, some really amazing pieces can be done. There is something magical about petrified wood. I hope someday to get some petrified branches. I want to get some with some really amazing grain patterns. I want to align the grain into angle oriented pieces, with opal in the center in a pentagon shape. See, with my faceter(s) I can make some nearly perfect edges. My Ultratec is good for .010 micron at 36" on parallel. NOw to find those pieces that will make the perfect mosiac, with angles that compliment the grain structure. I can see it, I just do not have the material. I guess, when it is the right time, I will find the pieces. I already have a very large piece of very dark wood, with pronounced grain structure. Now to find some blond petrified wood to make a contrasting compliment. Hah! Some pieces of Lightning Ridge Opal to make 1/8" boundaries to the dark between the dark, and blonde. I can see it. The opal would have red, and blue flashes. Perfect dome, perfect girdle....... I can even, if I use silver, or gold in the inlay, plane true on the bottom, and top for polishing.......
Hah, I just got to watch my redneck neighbor, all drunk up, shoot a "bomb" into the air. It is coming up on the fourth and the drunks are celerating tonite. To make a long story short, the "bomb" went into the air, into his chimney, yes, there are chimneys in Floriduh. Once in his chimney, it hit his living room floor and went off. His whole house light up, with firecrackers going off, coloured sparks, and a screaming wife and kids. It was a lot of fun to watch! Floriduh is kinda neat in one way. Once people cross the border, they leave most of their brain cells at the state line. You see, the legal state IQ recquirement is 68. Add some brewski, some redneck music, some rednecks, good ole boys, and just plain bubbas, mix with some fireworks, and you have CHAOS! Some of the Crackers still fish with dynamite here, and when there are fireworks, all hell breaks loose. It was neat to watch him almost torch his house. His inebriated wife was livid. The other neighbors, Kevin, and DMBLFLK, friends of Horatio and Ignatz, started throwing fireworks at the livid drunk wife so she busted her husband's windshield with something that looked like a shovel and barfed on herself! I do not need to go to the movies, I got neighbors! It is too bad, they will never see a piece of petrified wood, let alone a polished one, nor will they know what it means. I try. At IQ 69, a person cannot dress himself without asssistance. The state recqirement is 68. A person moving into Floriduh has five years to comply. Every time Mr. Hanky visits they have to drop 5 IQ points in front of witnesses. I think our neighbors have met the maximum IQ recquirements I am happy for them. Tomorrow my roof will be littered with firework litter, one or two of the neighbors will be sleeping on fire ant nests in the front yard, and roadside. His windshield will still be broken with something sticking out of it, his dog will have trashed my garbage can and wrapping papers will litter the street. Petrified wood, when looked into, tells of credibility, strength, past moments, and natures beauty. I love the stuff. Good tumbling.

Those are nice looking Tattoos Michiganrock, earthdog and Cookie. For those of you that are wanting a Tattoo start with a small one. I was going to start with a small one, however, I didn't see a small on that I liked so I went with the one I have. I had it outlined and colored all in one sitting. I don't know which is better doing it in one sitting or all at once. Tami Tami

Ooooo your horse is beautiful Donna, I'm so jealous. I used to have arabs but after moving to town I had to let them go. Man I miss them, they were such great companions.

At last I get to add my picture to the many already here. I hope you don't mind showing off my wife Jeannine and the pile of petwood between us. Sadly had to leave them all behind in Chinchilla Australia. Jack

years ago (25) my grandfather raised american quarterhorses in western PA. north of pittsburgh, of course i liked the old swayback mare who was so slow and gentle (the race horses made me nervous i was like 5) I miss 2 things, fossil hunting the creek side and at the coal mines, and riding all day to nowhere, think about moving back to pa from florida, then remember shoveling snow jus tto find the door (car , house, barn, shed, outhouse) and remember why my folks gave up the great tracts o land to be here
side note, anyone else in pinellas florida, want someone to try the latest batch of mead I have vinted
