VERY NICE COLLECTION !
Did you find most of those digging or does surface collecting pay off down there ? The bases on those are pretty cool and the material they are made from is awesome to say the least ! Some / most of the points up here in Iowa are made from earth toned Chert and rather bland & crude compared to what you are finding down there. Thanks for the eye candy, you have me so inspired I guess I'll go down to the basement and try to bang out one of those larger dart points with the triangle shaped base end.
Really nice group !

Randy,
I feel for you buddy, I did exactly the same thing on the opposite hand. I was luckier than you tho, I used a band saw, they have a narrower blade and don't remove as much material !
Ya get more slabs per digit that way !
I would remind you NOT to bump it for a few months but as clever as you are I bet you got THAT one figured out already !

Tony,
You might want to get a large can of plastisol to coat the crossbar on that set-up. That will keep the steel from chipping the antlers !

Sure hope you guy's have a wood stove or a gas stove in the kitchen. With 20 inches you may run into a problem with the power. I sure hope the electric doesn't drop out on you ! Going out in that could be a matter of life or death under the right circumstances so it would probably be a good idea to just stay parked and wait till it all gets settled.
Hope you guy's have some good T.V. programming out there !

Adrian,
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me.If you were located near Yellowstone National Park, you could probably make a fair living just making those sets for the gift shops and only work 3 months a year !
Great design idea !

The pics. of your back yard look REALLY familiar ! I sure hope it lets off soon. When the crap started into the fan here I ran down to the big food store down the street and LOADED the wife's Blazer. She asked me what I I thought I was doing . I told her that after 20 years I was getting attached to her old cat and I considered it part of the family !
I didn't want have to resort to cannibalism !

I plan on going up to my fishin shack on the Miss. River this weekend and shoring up the roof on the annex I added on to the trailer. It has a flat roof and I suspect it needs a couple 4x4's to keep the roof where it is supposed to be !
IF it isn't sitting on top of the wood stove already !

We missed this one, the one that hit the mid-west got us tho. Our neighbor with the genuine John Deere snow blower had to do our drive in three stages. From the street to the front of the wife's Blazer. From the back of where the Chevy was parked to the front of my Escort, and then, from the back of where the Escort was parked to the garage door. The whole process of diggin out took 5 days total for us. Standing in the open door of the garage and looking at the TUNNEL leading out to the street I began to think that the only reasons a person would have to live here in Iowa would be they are too poor or to dumb to leave ! Global warming ? ANYONE that believes THAT is more than welcome to stop by my place and I would be more than happy to walk UP the snow drift against the side of my house and step DOWN off it to the top of my industrial size garbage can and drop the bottom half of my snowmobile suit. With their overly active imagination, they can take it from there ! Harley Long rant, sorry !

That Snake River material almost looks like Polkadot on steroids ! I don't believe it would take a pro with years of experience to get fantastic lookin cabs out of those slabs. Just about any shape at any angle outta get-er done !

That looks like my idea of FOOD ! When I make up a batch of soup, I use a 3 gal container. It is always better the 2nd day and really great the 3rd and 4th ! You have me wondering, WHAT is ESCAROLE ? I couldn't spot anything in there that looked unusual except a piece of veggie that resembled Artichoke heart.

The Brass bottle does look like a snuff box of sorts and the top spear head (one blade) looks as tho it may have been used for sealing work because it is rather short to do anything other than startle a Whale !
Neat collection ;D

I once had the idea that they might make a good boat anchor for holding your fishing rig in heavy current. One of my fishing buddies said it wouldn't work !
I thought about it for a couple seconds and realized he was right !
Turds float !

Not trying to be a smart -$$ but it looks like a piece of petrified stew meat !
Bone, fat and all. It is WAAAAAY neat lookin , and, the only thing wrong with THAT specimen is,
it doesn't weigh 20 lbs. MORE !

If you have an air compresser in your garage, you can pick up a set of muffler tool and chisels from one of the discount supply houses and using lower air pressure (ring ) your stone about 1/16 th of an inch deep, then, turn up the pressure and have at it ! The tool and chisel set will run you about $16.00 or a little more and you can pretty much control the break that way. You may have to dress the one chisel point when you get the set but this tool is REALLY handy to have around when you have a nasty old piece of cement to get rid of also !

Sands,
Thanks for the heads up ! Missed the earlier action this year because of the HEAVY cloud cover here in Iowa. The rain wasn't much of a help either !

Great lookin material. Anyone wanting to polish some impossible material might want to try a product sold by Ace Hardware stores. It's called ( TREWAX ) and comes in a 12.35 ounce can. I use it on some of my heat-treated stone to bring out the flake pattern and color on the points I knapp. A little bit goes a heck of a long way as the one can I bought would probably put a glass finish on the entire paint booth at the Ford Motor Company ! One can will restore the original finish to 800 sq.ft. of wood floor.
