On the subject of power not politics I have to wonder how we powered a ship to Mars and others beyond. Solar? Bussard collectors picking up free hydrogen from space? Nuclear? I have not been able to find out for sure. Any answers out there?
MrP- question. I have a roof that is southern facing. I have been told by 2 solar panel installation companies that I can (with the proper panels) have free electricity and feed the excess back into the grid and that the meters would actually run backwards. Any truth to that? Dave.

I would say #6 is Stone Canyon and probably #7 as well. The blue stuff looks like Dumorterite to me but do not take my word for it. I concur with the tube agate but the rest I do not have a clue.

With that formula a 100 SiC wheel would be 300 Diamond. That would explain why mine ground rough so darn slow and I switched to diamond and never regretted it. ;D

The red one looks like some Pipe Line Canyon agate I have and the other looks like it may be an end cut of Mexican Crazy Lace. My opinion.

Jonje, I thought you picked up a 16" Covington. What happened? You would love it and I am sure Randy would back me up. ;D Agategrrrl, Yes there will be cabs but when is up in the air. They would get me a cot to sleep in just to keep me there at work if I would allow it.

I would say if what you are using and doing works continue. If it aint broke don't fix it. Myself, I have only had my 16" saw since March so do not take me as a guide. As my blade slows(weight feed) on hard stuff I switch to soft (Obsidian, Sodalite, Calcite etc) and it brings it back a bit. When I need to I use a fire brick and make one cut through it and I am back in business for the hard stuff. Again take this with a grain of salt as I am a newbie with a slab saw.

Stonesthatrock- I got the Mook, P.J. and Plasma off ebay. The Unikite is from Superagates and I got the Dendritic/Plume from Lapidopterix here.

I understand getting that nice shine that fast using a vibe but with 10 only days in course I do not understand that loss in volume for Flint, Jasper and Wood. My opinon is it is quite unusual to lose that much. Maybe some others can help.

Ok. I'm confused. How long- start to finnish- did it take to lose 40% volume?

I do not see 9# finished a "little batch" ;D. I am unsure why you lost 40% volume when you finished them in "over a month" I have lost that much volume on batches of stuff that hardness but it was in 60/90 for 12 to 16 weeks to shape up. By the way, that is a very nice batch especially for your first one!
