Lol... Whoa, how did this get back up here? I totally missed this one. I've gotta try this. Funny thing, I actually have the wire to do this, gonna try right now! Well Randy... how did it work out? Nice job, on the tut, and the finished product pic at the end! That stone looks like its floting!!!!! I think I would have been able to do it myself without the tut if I i wanted to make one. But the tut is well done! ~Colt Actually Colt... it is floating, kind of.... On most of my photos, I use some sticky poster putty to hold the stone off the slabs in the background. Just about a half inch or so, the putty is hidden behind the pendant. That way the shadow is pulled away from the wrap and the background is a little out of focus to draw more attention to the wrap. I'll take a pic of my photo setup next time I make something so you can see what I mean.... Chris

ooooooooo.....pretty!!! I really like the one just up from the lower left corner I see the blue. Under it, I like that brown and beige one. That one is owyhee jasper, cool stuff Looks like someone has been to the Nethers Flint Farm! Yep, gotta love that place... I need to get back there before the weather get bad. Oh what a pretty batch! Can't wait to see how it turns out. Did you collect the Flint Ridge Flint yourself? Jo Yup...See above They are looking good already! I still have my beautiful box that you sent me sitting by my computer with the little crystal pocket one out staring at me. I think I am going to have to trim that one up for a cab this weekend and get the others going in a tumble. They are sure beautiful! Fran Yeah Fran, I've been meaning to ask you about that box....

Hey, I finally got my tumblers going again... Of course the first thig I tossed in was some of my flint ridge flint. Here is how it looks after 2 weeks in 60/90... I also tossed a couple other things in there ( owyhee, a laker, graveyard plume, etc... ) Check out the stone just left of center... the white, yellow, red, black and white striped, with a little bit of blue one... it's cool. I took this pic a couple weeks ago, it is in 500 right now... Looking pretty good so far, there are quite a few I can't wait to wrap....

Hey guys, I whipped up a couple more pendants using rediculous ammounts of wire. ;D This first one didn't come out quite as well as I wanted it to. It pretty much looks like my sketch, but something just isn't right. It is 3 dentritic agates all wrapped up in silver plated copper and brass wire. I only have one pic of it right now, but I'll post some more when I take them.
This second one I just made up as I went. I started out weaving 3 garnets in a line. Then I wasn't sure what to do with that. I went through my stones and decided this piece of aquamarine looks good with the garnets, silver, and brass....
... so, I strapped the aqua in there. But now the bottom just didn't look right....
.... I went ahead and made up the bail, to get some wires out of the way, then started going through my stones again. Well, I picked out a little opal cab ( from the traveling rock box, thank you pporky ) that just fit perfectly. I secured that little cab in place and found a place for all the ends and this is what I ended up with... I like how this little intertwined weave thingy came out ...
Just look at that opal!!!!
Here's the garnets. ...and, I know your curious. So here's the back Is it too much? Chris

Thanks guys, I case you were wondering, I thought I was going to break the tops off of both of these. The obsidian one did chip and flake quite a bit. I had little black bit on my hands at one point. I'm glad they survived . NICE !!!! Chris , you could wrap a piece of limestone gravel and it would look good . --paul LOL, thanks Paul... I just might do that someday, just for you... LOL Thse stilts are ingenious. Nice wrap. Oh... .. Thank you ladys ....It's nothing really. I like that much better than the one the I did, very cool bud!! Well, lets see it... Something tells me yours isn't to shabby . Very cool wraps! look like they are time consuming Bet that took you a while to design and wrap. It looks cool. A little, These took about four or five hours each....I do it while watching TV, and chatting with friends. So it's kind of hard to tell how much time I really put into it.

Hey, what happened to the other arrowhead? ( I guess I should have previewed before I posted ) Well, here's the other one... This one is a piece of flint ridge flint. Sorry, I don't have a pic of the back yet... need batteries for the camera. Also, the stones in the background are Flint Ridge flint.... There you go, Chris

I had them, so I figured I might as well wrap them . Last time we went to Flint Ridge I bought a couple arrowheads at The Ridge museum and gift shop. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to wrap them, I've never done an arrowhead. This is what I came up with. This first one was kind of a challenge. It is made from banded obsidian. The problem is, you can't see the bands unless light can get behind the stone. When it is sitting on a flat surface it is just black. See... So I added little " stilts " on the back to lift it up just enough. Here's a good view of the stilts... ... and the back... sorry, bad pic.

Thanks as always .... Just playing with wire . I like adding the garnets as little accents... I just don't have many... That first one is a perfect match for that stone. It is like lookin at snake wrapped around a frog. Very cool. Cool, I'm glad you said that Amy... The customer I made it for said pretty much the same thing. I sure hope she likes it, I hope to see her this weekend. That quartz cluster wrap RULES! LOL... Peachfront like it.... she really likes it!!!! Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm keeping that one ....Actually, it reminds me of the sculpture thing that held Delia during the wedding in Beetlejuice. I just noticed the way you bent the wire to get the inside corners on the cross. I would have never thought of that, it adds a cool effect. Hey Randy, I'm glad you noticed that... I've never really liked the look of straight right angle bends, so on this one I bent the wire back and then over. It seems to make the corners look a little sharper. It does lift the wire off the stone a little ( angle pic ), but that's no problem. Way cool pics! Thanks for the pics of the back of them too... That part always fascinates me Thank you, and no problem Lisa.... I put just as much work in the back as I do the front, if not more. Figure I might as well show it .... Chris, you are an artist!!! The ideas and execution are really first rate! Wow. (My favorite is the claw) Thank you so much Dee!!! ;D You know, I'm a huge fan of your work... You ( and Randy, and Lori, and Mystic Koi, and etc.... ) are definately an inspiration to me... By the way, those dragons are awesome!!!

Hey guys, It's been soooooo hot the last couple of weeks!!!!!! I haven't felt like doing anything after I get home from work... but I have managed to get a few wraps done.... This first wrap is a custom for the same woman who bought my tiny crystal wrap ( if you remember that one ).... She picked out the stone, actually it was a pendant my mom made ( drilled stone, with a wire bail ). She likes the look of the coils ( she calls them snakes ) and she likes silver and black... but I didn't want to do anything too elaborite because the stone is pretty big..... So, this is what I came up with..... She said she dosen't really like copper, but I used a little in the coils to match the stone a little better... Here's the back... in case you are wondering, I did use the hole that was drilled in the stone to tie the front to the back. Actually, without using the hole I don't think this design would have worked. This next wrap was kind of fun... tedious, but fun . The stone is a quartz crystal cluster we found in Flint Ridge, Ohio. The crystal is just how it was found ( I'm sure some knapper chipped it off of a large chunk, but still... I found it ;D ). The wrap is really just a claw holding the stone, each finger took a while to weave... but it was worth it, I think. .. I also threw in a little garnet for some color.... ... and, the back.... And.... one more. This one is another custom wrap.... He supplied the stone (black jade, actually it's a bead... three holes are drilled through the side ) and I wrapped it. He wanted a cross with a garnet on the bail. I think he'll like it.... ... and the back... Well, it's too hot in this room to type any more right now , lol.... What do you guys think? Chris

Hey guys, I need to get caught up.... I wrapped a couple more crystals last week and I realized I forgot to post them... so here you go. First is a little tiny crystal. This one was kind of fun... it was so small I got it done pretty quick,lol... ... and the back.... it's pretty small.... And, next is another crystal. I did manage to queeze in one of the little Austrilian Variscite cabs that Stonesthatrock was selling. I like working with these tiny little stones, they are hard to hold on to ( I'm pretty sure that one of the varicite cabs is forever lost in the couch ) but worth the trouble, I think... ... and from the side... a better view of the bail... ... and the back.... These are both wrapped in silver plated copper, with black copper on the first one and brass on the second. Well, how did I do this time ?

Well, here are my pics ( fianally ) from round two ( sorry for the delay ) Here's what I took out... Some agates... .... a couple lakers and a neat heavy gold piece ( pyrite? )... ... and the little pieces. Some garnets, peacock ore, a little chipped montana cab, a little opal cab, and some of the opal chips ( the little vial is in this box, just wait till you see it ). It's going to be fun working these into some special wraps... And here's what I put in.... Some tumble sized filnt pieces... this is a close up of some of them... ...A couple larger chunks of flint... I also added some slabs and preforms in the box to fill every nook and cranny... Well, Marinedad, you should see it on Monday.

Thanks guys... this one definately fall into the " bit much " category ... This design was loosely inspired by Arwen's pendant form The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I sketched it up just after watching the second one. The garnets are by far the smallest stones I've ever worked with. Slippery little devils.... Here's some better pics for ya.... The front. ... angle... ... better view of the bottom... That's 18 gauge wire at the bottom so it's not quite as delicate as it looks. Actually I dropped it already , from Diane's neck to the sidewalk. It landed right on the tip and nothing moved a bit. ... better view of the garnets... .. and, the back. It is as big as it looks, lol. Amazing piece! Looks like the head of a staff belonging to an Egyptian Pharaoh. Kinda curious as to how long it took? How long?.... Too long .... I'd say 10 hours or so.... not including planning, I drew a sketch frist then figure out how to make it work.... Great wrap unreal really! looks like alot of wire.Beautiful.. Roger Roger... Alot is an understatement, lol ;D....

Well, here's my newest creation... This is a quartz crystal with a couple little garnets squeezed in there. Wrapped in silver plated copper and brass wire... It's just under 3 inches long, so it is pretty big... But I think it looks pretty darn cool.... I still need to take some better pics, but for now this will do . Well, what do you guys think? How much should I sell this one for? ???lol Chris

Well, here's what I recieved from Amy... Pretty much perfect ( as we have come to expect from Amy ). Great work Amy, Diane and I love it! Love that cab too, Marie... The facet cut looks really good. And the cabs... Also amazing ... Now, which one to wrap? I'm generally not a fan of ocean jasper, but I'm kind of leaning that way.... Thanks guys, Chris
