Roy slabbed this material for me a long long time ago before I got my slab saws. I love this one! Another 2015 stone.

Yeah, same thing has happened to me several times. I sent something to Australia and it got all the way to LA before turning around and coming back home to my mailbox. It never got on the plane, lol! I ended up having to reprint the label and resend at my expense and there was no notice or anything on my package. 2nd time it arrived just fine. The worst thing that happened to me was shipping a friend a cab from WA to FL. 2 months. Obviously got lost under a seat or something. USPS doesn't have their A game on right now

Nice! Wonderful photography too!....Mel Hehehe..... we got a puppy one year ago for Christmas. He is a black lab. We named him Bob. He was only supposed to grow to around 50 pounds but he has now topped over 100 and his skin is still saggy with much left to fill in. Bob sabotaged my Josephine's Crown picture with one of his kazillion black hairs that infiltrate my shop!

Welcome back. What an awesome bunch of cabs. I think I like the Josephine's Crown best but the willow creek pattern is really cool too. Chuck I LOVE Josephine's Crown!!! It is both Pyrite and Chalcopyrite in Quartz. But it's so hard to find...

Welcome back, tntmom!!! Those cabs are killer! From a level of difficulty, i'd pick the seraphinite group as the winner, but they are all superb. KD My nemesis is the Larimar! Flakes and cracks at every stage until 600, grrrrrr. Every one I have ever cut has changed shape 3 times or more, LOL!

Beautiful Owyhee!!! This might be a little off topic but tumblers are an essential tool in the work shop. In the last couple of years a friend of mine has been teaching me how to chase fire in Obsidian. He takes all pieces and tumbles them first, all the way to polish. After they are polished he analyzes each piece to find a fire band. If one exists, he then orients it and takes it to the trim saw to begin the cabbing process. Without the tumbler, most fire would be lost forever and never seen.

I have a single arbor that used to have an expando on it. When I used the belts I would do 8k, 14k, 50k and then 50k and 100k diamond paste on felt or leather. 50k diamond paste sands better than 50k belts. I switched out the expando for an 80 Galaxy and use my 6 wheel for 220 galaxy then Novas, 280, 600, 1200, 3000 and 14k. Then I go straight to diamond paste. The Novas cut so cleanly that I skip 8k now and go straight to 14k. I have never replaced my 14k Nova. It lasts forever. I replace my 280 and 600 every 4 months or so because those get the most abuse. I cab every day though so 4 months might not be the norm for others.

No, I don't use anything except for the diamond wheels. I think my polishes look just fine. Wait- I take it back- I have used a felt foredom wheel with zam a few times. Your setup sounds closest to what I am looking for. Figures its also the most expensive route, lol It is good to hear everyone's different methods though. I know tntmom gets some of the best shine around and uses canvas with diamond paste and the end of the genie. Chuck Actually I don't use canvas! I use Novas to 14k and then I switch to my Amertool flat lap and depending on stone, use either felt or leather disks with paste. 50k and 100k. I never liked the canvas. It always seemed too rough on really delicate stones. Plus the lap is nice because you don't have to spritz it and can run full water on heat sensitive stones like opal and fluorite. Many stones (agates and jaspers) don't need the laps and the 14k Nova wheel gives a perfect mirror finish. It takes almost a month to break in though, lol!

Thank you jakesrocks Don!!!!!! You just identified slabs that I have had for a long time and didn't know what they were!!! Owyhee Mountain Dendritic! Regarding the cab I posted earlier.... I was digging through my buckets and found the end cut that I cut the slabs from. Cripple Creek is written on it.
