I stayed with Atari for ten years after they went belly up. I'm taking XP with me to the cemetery. I hear everyone bad mouthing W10. So far I've had no problems with it. No more spam than I normally get. No slow downs or anything. LOL Dave, I'm a Commodore 64 guy myself.

It might also be a good idea to use a fairly slow speed, so you don't end up throwing your diamond grit all over your work area.

There are many types of agate & jasper found in the Black Hills. Most locals go after the more desirable TeePee's & other banded types of agate. I agree with snowmom that you should cut a few before breaking them up for tumbler fodder. They may just surprise you.

Good question. I cant say that I have ever heard of anyone finding fortification agates this far south on Lake Huron and this is probably my 10th trip to this spot and the first I have seen. RTH member mibeachrocks hounds the same beach so maybe he can chime in on the rarity. Chuck I have found "Lakers" downstate in Lake Michigan before. My understanding is that they were carried here by the glaciers. If I remember correctly, the authors of one of the books about rocks in Michigan stated that he/she used to be able to find lakers south of Michigan because of glacial debris. I still consider them hard to find. I spent the last week rock hunting in the northern lower peninsula. I brought home about 300 pounds of rocks. I was lucky if I found one or two nice agates in the bunch. The funny thing is that I found them very similar to the way chuck did. Sitting in the surf after snorkeling. Chuck, is the agate set in limestone? Lakers are found as far west as the extreme eastern border of South Dakota, but they're few & far between.

My Genie sits on the kitchen counter ,(Much to my wife's disgust). There's a large beach towel under it which drapes down over the cabinet drawers. Any overspray that land on the linoleum floor is easy to clean up with a damp mop. I wear old t-shirts that are ready for the rag bin to keep the overspray from ruining good shirts.

Why waste good oil when saws 10" and under will do just fine with plain old tap water ? Just drain the saw & spray the blade with any good penetrating oil after use to prevent the blade rusting.

One thing I just learned about Windows 10. After the change over is complete, run Defrag. Windows 10 seemed to be running slow, so I ran Defrag & WOW ! What a difference. My computer hasn't been this fast since it was new out of the box.

Only took about 2 hours to load. I was back online at 3:15. So far everything is working the same as Windows 7. May take a few days to figure everything out.

Well, I've backed up all files on an external hard drive, and am ready to take the plunge into Windows 10. I'll try it for a few days and see if it's worth the trouble.

I still haven't gotten around to finishing the wiring. Too many projects + house & property upkeep. Hopefully as soon as fall gets here & the grass stops growing I'll get-r-done.

Here's the machine sitting on a TV tray table to give an idea of size. It's currently down for updated wiring & new bushings. Drive belts are also off for replacement. Largest cutters mounted. Smaller cutters on table in front of machine.

Here's a few that I made with a vintage table top sphere machine, and one that was given to me. The first is green sheen obsidian. It didn't show good under my lights. Antigorite from Arizona. Marble from near Cadiz, California, west of old Rt. 66. Septerian nodule from Madagascar. (Gift from my favorite mineral seller). And finally a tiny (1/4") amethyst bead turned on the same machine.
